Dear Parents and Students,

The decision has been made by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to close all Archdiocesan schools beginning this coming Monday, March 16 for a period of 14 days.

There will be no school on Monday, March 16, but the building will be opened from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for students and teachers to pick up any personal items they may need. Please enter through Door A. After Monday, school will be off limits to all for two weeks, except by special permission.

Archbishop Carroll will be deploying virtual learning days in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Our investment in student 1:1 devices and online learning tools allows us to use this approach to teaching and learning in times of need.  To be clear, this is not time off from learning for the students. Students are to take these assignments seriously. If students do not complete the work daily, then the days will not be excused, and we will need to add additional days to the school year. We appreciate the encouragement of parents to ensure that assignments are completed daily.

Starting on Tuesday, March 17, assignments from teachers will be posted with clear instructions on the learning platform used in class. Students should remember to check emails during this time period. If students have questions or concerns, please have them email their teachers directly.

We will send additional details on the Remote Learning Plan to all parents and students in the upcoming days.

Here is an overview of the schedule for the next several days:
  • Today, Friday, March 13: Teachers and students will take home materials today, including books, technology, chargers, athletic equipment, etc.
  • Monday, March 16: School will be closed. The building will be opened from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for students and teachers to pick up anything they may need.  Teachers will receive training via web based zoom conferences.
  • March 17-27: Teachers will touch base with students on Tuesday to share guidance on how they will connect in our online learning environment. We will initiate our Remote Learning Plan for all students on this day.

What does the campus closure impact?
  • All events are canceled beginning on Friday, March 13. This includes SAT testing, athletic competitions and practices, student performances, student club gatherings, faculty meetings, etc.
  • Our spring athletics programs will be suspended through at least March 27. There will be no practices or games during this period.
  • No one is permitted on campus during the closure. This includes our athletic fields and all buildings.

We realize you may have questions. You can visit our Coronavirus Information Page located on the website to find key information related to Archbishop Carroll’s campus closing and the transition to online education. We will also continue to send communications with updates and details on our planning.

We are thankful for our Archbishop Carroll families for their patience and understanding, as we all navigate this fluid situation. We know this is a challenging and difficult time for many. Please remember that we are in this together, and we will absolutely make it through this together by supporting one another, by thinking creatively about the challenges we face, and by staying connected even when we are physically separated.

God Bless you all and your families.
