Burkhart Center Friends, Family, and Colleagues,
As we navigate this difficult time of uncertainty and anxiety I want to first thank all of you for your partnership, heart, and care for the autism community. I appreciate all you do for your family members, clients, students, and participants. Please show patience and grace as we work together to find ways to continue to support each other through this challenging period.
We are dealing with an unprecedented challenge with the spread of COVID-19, and I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what the Burkhart Center is doing to protect our community.
Effective immediately, all clinical and research activities are cancelled until at least the week of April 6. This includes the Transition Academy, the Focused ABA program, PCIT, Theatre and Animation classes, Parent’s Night Out, the Therapy Dog study, and any other center-based public events during that time period. If you are a participant in one of those programs, you should expect a personal correspondence from the activity coordinator with further details. The Mobile Outreach Clinic will continue to operate at this time, as sessions can be conducted via video conference.
The Burkhart Center will remain open during this time, but we are not going to be offering tours, interviews, or intakes until at least April 6. Staff will be available to answer calls, and we are working to find as many ways as possible to continue supports and services. We will provide updates as we have them via our social media platforms and mailing lists.
