Governor Kathy Hochul announces that a $27 million Hurricane Ida relief fund has been made available for undocumented New Yorkers who do not qualify for FEMA assistance during a presentation at the Queens Museum Photo Credit: Office of the Governor.

- Governor Hochul and Mayor de Blasio announced that $27 million is available to provide relief to undocumented survivors of the storms and flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Read more here and visit DFS for more information here.
- The governor declared a State of Emergency allowing her to deploy the National Guard to deal with potential staffing shortages in hospitals.

- Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that public school workers must obtain their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Friday October 1st at 5 p.m.
- If educators and staff are not vaccinated by Friday, it is assumed that they will not come to work on Monday October 4th and will go on leave without pay. Read more here.
- The mayor announced that Governors Island will be open all year long, daily from 7 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., starting November 1.

- Intake time is down to 5.5 hours instead of 10 hours

- Victims of Hurricane Ida in parts of New York and New Jersey now have until January 3, 2022, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. Read more here.
- Individuals and businesses in a federally declared disaster area can get a faster refund by claiming losses related to the disaster on the tax return for the previous year, usually by filing an amended return.

EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) portal is accessible to applicants with household incomes between 80 percent and 120 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).

NYC SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE NETWORK

The NYC Small Business Resource Network is a unique private/public partnership that provides our local businesses with the free, personalized guidance they need right now to survive the pandemic. If you have a small business, you can sign up for this network today.
Once you fill out the brief intake form, you will be matched with a business support specialist. Through this program, all five borough Chambers of Commerce have specialists offering one-on-one support to businesses in their boroughs.
The program is funded by a $2.8 million grant from the New York City-based Peter G. Peterson Foundation and supported by in-kind contributions from other partners, this collaboration, led by the Partnership for New York City, the NYC Economic Development Corporation and all five Chambers of Commerce, leverages the city’s corporate, financial and professional services sectors, as well as universities, philanthropies and expert volunteers to help small business owners gain access to a range of programs and services.
