Injured Gadgets Family,
Every year we see a small shortage of parts after Chinese New year. This is because the majority of employees in major manufacturing cities go back home during the holiday, and often times many of them do not come back to work, either due to getting new jobs in their home town, or deciding to change positions within a company. This causes factory production to slowly ramp up, after having already been shut down for multiple weeks.
This year, the Chinese government is expecting much longer delays. The coronavirus has affected China, mainland, and Hong Kong significantly. China has extended their new year until February 9th, they have quarantined the province where the virus first had it's outbreak, and now the Shenzhen market (where we get the majority of cell phone parts) will be shut down until February 18th at a minimum.
Injured Gadgets typically forecasts for inventory to last us 30 days post Chinese New year, however, with these new delays we do expect to run out of some SKUs and have a delay in receiving new SKU's/Out of stock items for a greater than normal period.
If the virus gets worse, becomes an epidemic, or even a pandemic, we are unsure of what the market will hold. Thankfully, we do refurbish many parts stateside, and we also have inventory we can receive from other countries, but at the end of the day, the majority of our items do come from China.
We do suggest ordering additional stock for your repair stores in the event that supply is low from China. We will do our best to keep you all updated on the market in Shenzhen, the virus, it's outbreak, and our stock levels which may be affected by these events.
Our prayers are with everyone in China, and anyone who has contracted the virus. If you have medical masks, please let us know, as we are trying to send thousands of masks to China, however, there are shortages everywhere, and manufacturing for them is also delayed. Any help is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
