Contra Costa Remains in Red Tier, Rates Lower than State Average |

Current data show that the 7-day average for new COVID-19 cases per day per 100,000 people in Contra Costa is 4.5, compared to the state average of 6.8. The positivity rate in Contra Costa County is 2.4%, compared to 3.4% for California.
The State reviews data weekly and Contra Costa will move to the next tier once the following three criteria have been met for two consecutive weeks:

Cases Numbers: Less than 4 new cases per 100,000 residents

Positivity Rate: Less than 5% of tests countywide are positive

Equity Metric: Less than 5.2% of tests for residents of the lowest quartile of the Healthy Places Index census tracts are positive
On Oct. 13, Contra Costa Health Services released an updated chart of business and activity openings at a glance (below).
Health officials caution that COVID-19 is still circulating in the community and people should continue to take all the same precautions health officials have been advising for months: wear face coverings in public, maintain physical distancing, wash hands frequently and stay home if you’re sick.
Since testing began, Contra Costa County has reported 17,866 positive cases, with 2,389 positive cases in Concord. To review a demographic and geographic breakdown of cases, please see the County's COVID-19 dashboard.

Free Flu Shots Available in October |

Getting vaccinated is more important than ever this flu season. Vaccination will help keep hospitals from being overwhelmed by flu patients while they also care for those with COVID-19.
Vaccinations are available to everyone age 6 months and older. No appointment is needed, and all are welcome regardless of insurance or immigration status. Please wear a face covering!
Concord's next flu clinic will take place:
Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (drive-thru) at Loma Vista Adult Center, 1266 San Carlos Ave

Safe Halloween & Trick or Treating Tips |
|
Health officials, including those from Contra Costa Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control, have issued tips to help families have a safe Halloween.
Among the suggestions, officials suggest:
- Avoid direct contact with trick-or-treaters
- Give out treats outdoors
- Set up a station with individually bagged treats for kids to take
- Wash hands before handline treats
- Wear a mask!

Oktoberfest on Concord Live |

Calling all beer lovers! Join Visit Concord as we celebrate Oktoberfest this week on Concord Live on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
Epidemic Ales, Hop Grenade and E.J. Phair will be on hand for some live sampling of the Oktoberfest special Porch Pour Party packages and to offer up some expert tasting tips.

Submissions will be posted to the City of Concord Facebook page, and the participants who submit the top 3 most “liked” pictures will win donated gift cards!
Pictures will be posted on October 27 and winners will be announced October 29 during Concord Live!

The 2020 General Election is just weeks away. Vote-by-mail ballots have been sent out, and the County Elections office has installed 37 secure ballot drop boxes throughout the County, including three in Concord. One is located in the parking lot at the City's Civic Center: 1950 Parkside Drive, between Salvio Street and Willow Pass Road. (Follow the yellow arrow depicted here!)
This year, Concord voters in Districts 2 and 4 will each elect a City Councilmember to a four-year term, and all Concord voters will have the opportunity to vote on Measure V, Concord's locally controlled funding measure.
