Tourism Fernie Update to Members & Stakeholders
With the current travel restrictions in BC and now in AB there is no doubt our industry and each of you are facing a very challenging time.  There is no precedent for what we are dealing with.  Yes we encountered restrictions in spring, but much of that took place during a quieter time of year. Now we face restrictions over one of our peak seasons.

You, we, are not alone in this crisis. We must do everything we can to support each other, support local and persevere. Fernie is known for this in its history. Fernie is not new to tragedies. For now we must all do our part to flatten the curve and see restrictions ease. A vaccine is coming but will take some time. We all love to travel and tourism will rebound, quickly.  We must support local and help each other to ensure we get there soon.

Currently Tourism Fernie is adjusting all marketing to encourage future travel and preparing budgets and campaigns to immediately activate once travel opens up again.

Reach out. Stay healthy. Be kind. Tourism Fernie will do all it can to support you.

Collaborative Effort for Trails
Tourism Fernie has been working with the various trail groups to understand and address some of the key issues brought on by COVID-19 this winter season.

This collaborative effort includes the Fernie Trails Alliance, City of Fernie, Fernie Nordic Society, Montane owners, Ridgemont owners, the Fernie Snowmobile Assn and more.

The group has submitted a funding application to the City's RMI Program in time for December 14th Council Meeting.  A supporting application may also be accepted by the CBT. The funding would support more grooming, parking, washrooms, signage, a new map and more.
Sandwich Board Signs
In partnership with the Fernie Chamber and the City of Fernie, new outdoor COVID Safety sandwich board signs will be placed around downtown within the week.

The Chamber will be reaching out to confirm a few businesses in strategic locations that are able to take care of one by bringing it inside overnight and placing outside again during the day/evening.
