Corporate, Banking & Business Law Section Meeting
Come join the Corporate, Banking & Business Law Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association for a round table discussion with three experts in the banking industry to discuss the current trends and legal issues facing the national and local banking industries, such as crypto currencies and de novo depository banks, as well as the future of the national and local banking industries. After the round table discussion, there will be a Q&A period for the audience with our esteemed panelists. Prior to the roundtable discussion, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.
Topic: A Round Table Discussion about Current Issues Facing the National and Local Banking Industries.
Speakers: Commissioner Emelia Galdieri: Emelia Galdieri is the Bank Commissioner of the State of New Hampshire. She has worked for the New Hampshire Banking Department since June of 2012; first as a hearing’s examiner for the Consumer Credit Division, later becoming legal counsel, and then deputy commissioner. Prior to working at the Department, Emelia served as senior law clerk for the New Hampshire Superior Court. In that role she worked closely with Superior Court judges, including the Honorable James D. O’Neill, III and the Honorable Tina L. Nadeau, supervised all Superior Court law clerks, and drafted legal opinions.
Kristy Merrill: Kristy Merrill is the current President of the New Hampshire Bankers Association. Prior to joining the New Hampshire Bankers Association, Kristy was at the New Hampshire Senate for almost 15 years where she served as Chief of Staff and as Senior Advisor to the Senate President and Senate Majority Leader.
The New Hampshire Bankers Association is a statewide, not-for-profit trade association representing and serving all the banking institutions in the State of NH whose purpose is to promote the general welfare, usefulness, and public perception of banks and banking institutions to the betterment of New Hampshire, its economy, and all its citizens.
Carlton Goss: Carl Goss is Counsel at Hunton Andrews Kurth and is based out of their Dallas, Texas office. Prior to joining to Hunton Andrews Kurth, Carl was a lawyer with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Carl represents financial institutions before the CFPB, OCC, FinCEN, Federal Reserve and the FDIC. Carl also advises financial institutions on all aspects of Bank Secrecy Act compliance, drafts comment letters on regulatory rulemaking by the OCC, the FHFA, and the NCUA, represents banks in appeals of supervisory conclusions, M&A transactions, and securities offerings, and represents organization groups in connection with de novo federal and state bank charter applications. Carl is a member of the Banking Law Journal Board of Editors and a recognized contributor to the latest edition of The Law of Financial Institutions, one of the leading banking law textbooks. He also authored Practical Law’s Q&A summary of financial institution regulation in Texas, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia.
