June 17, 2021
Dear Families,

I hope your summer is off to a great start and that your family has had an opportunity for some rest and relaxation!

The retirement of Father Zoghby and Father Boudreaux becomes official on June 25. A celebration for them is happening this Sunday, June 20, following the 11 a.m. Mass. Please join us in showing our gratitude for these two priests who have served the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and School community for 33 years. They will be remembered for leading the parish and school with love and faithfulness through those years. Their devotion to the Lord and their service to others are an inspiration to all within the Corpus Christi community. We pray that God will continue to bless them in their retirement!

We look forward to welcoming our new pastor, Father Pat Arensberg, and our Parochial Vicar, Father Alex Crow. They will begin their time of service at Corpus Christi Parish on June 26.

We look toward the upcoming school year and we are excited about a number of facility upgrades planned for this summer. These upgrades include installing a new fence around our preschool playground and enclosing our backfield with fencing. We also plan to install new fencing along the patio area outside some of our middle school classrooms.  A new drainage system is being built in order to help protect our grassy bleachers. Several of our buildings are getting power washed, while others are getting fresh coats of exterior paint. To help ensure a safer play area, we refreshed the mulch on both of our playgrounds earlier in the year, and currently, the blacktop surrounding our main playground area is being resurfaced. Other playground improvements include a new buddy bench that was built and installed by one of our alumni, Zachary Kuehn, as he completes the service requirements for his Eagle Scout Award. In addition, for their class gift, our 8th-grade class began to paint a beautiful mural alongside our playground that students will enjoy for years to come. The mural will be completed before school begins in August. (Pictures of the Eagle Scout project and the beginnings of the mural can be found at the bottom of this section.)

We are happy to announce we will have a new resource room for our students in 3-5 grades in the upcoming school year. We also have plans to reinstate the use of our STEM lab which will house our STEM bins and Maker Space Carts for student use. In addition to the recently purchased new desktop computers that our students enjoyed using in the computer lab the last few months of school, we have also fully installed a new 3D printer. We can’t wait to see what our students create! We also expect to add 40 additional iPads over the summer, increasing the number of iPads available for student use to 156.

I hope you continue to enjoy your summer! We are looking forward to the 2021 - 2022 school year!
Sincerely,
Retirement Celebration
Please join us this Sunday, June 20 to celebrate Fr. Zoghby's and Fr. Boudreaux's retirement. There will be a reception following 11 a.m. Mass. Their last day with us is June 25th.

(A message from Fr. Zoghby and Fr. Boudeaux to parishioners is below under the "Corpus Christi Church News" section.)
Goodbye to Friends
We were sad to say goodbye to our teachers who will not be with us in the fall. We are thankful for the years that they taught at Corpus Christi! Their contributions to our school and their love for their students will always be remembered! We wish them the best as they begin new chapters in their lives.
Mrs. Lary is retiring after 30+ years of teaching in the Archdiocese of Mobile. She looks forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. McLaughlin and Ms. Roh are moving out of town. Ms. Roh has also taught in the Archdiocese for more than 30 years. We wish her and Mrs. McLaughlin good luck in their new cities.

Mrs. Dennis and Mrs. Hines have accepted part-time teaching positions that will give them more flexibility to spend time with their families.

Miss Elliot will be teaching at McGill in the fall, and she accepted a position as an assistant coach for the girl's softball team. (Go Jackets!)

Ms. Ryan was our guidance counselor since 2018. She is getting married this year and plans to return to private counseling.
We also had some teachers who retired at the end of last year. We did not have a chance to bid them farewell since the school year ended during the pandemic. Happy retirement to Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Mueller, Ms. Reese, Mrs. Weeks, and Mrs. Joseph! Mrs. JoAnn Fadella who worked in our daycare and preschool for more than 20 years also retired in 2020.
We look forward to welcoming our new faculty members and will share information about them as the beginning of the school year nears.
8th Grade Completion Mass
On May 26th, our 8th-grade class of 2021 was honored with a graduation luncheon. That evening, a Mass to celebrate the completion of their education at Corpus Christi Catholic School was held. We wish our graduates the best of luck as they move onto high school. We know they will be successful in all that they do!
Summer Office Hours
Our school office is open throughout the summer, with the exception of July 2 - 20. We are always happy to see and hear from our families; please come by or call us if you need assistance!
Mark your Calendar
Blessing of the backpacks will be on Sunday, August 15 after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses.

Book and supply drop-off will be Monday, August 16th, from 10 a.m. - noon and from 5 - 6 p.m.

More information about the new family orientation and a welcome back event will be forthcoming.
FACTS Tuition Management
As a reminder, we will be utilizing a new tuition management program, FACTS, to receive payments for the 21-22 school year. All families are required to make an account with this program. Academic and assessment fees are due in July so it is imperative that you create an account if you have not already done so. The link to FACTS is below.

Please note that if you used the FACTS program previously to apply for financial assistance, you may use the same login information. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

**Keep in mind when you sign up, the tuition rate will reflect the non-tithing rate for the upcoming year. In July, when the parish confirms with us those families that have met their tithing obligation, that rate will be changed.

Corpus Christi Church News
Dear Parishioners,

We celebrate our final Sunday Masses this weekend, and we will celebrate the 6:30 a.m. & 8:15 a.m. weekday Masses through Friday, the 25th of June. Fr. Pat Arensberg and Fr. Alex Crow will begin their ministry at Corpus Christi on Saturday, the 26th. We know that you will give a warm welcome to these young priests.

As we prepare to begin our retirement, we are filled with gratitude for all the expressions of thanks and appreciation we have received from you. We love you too! We will miss serving you as your priests, but we are grateful that God gave us the opportunity to be your pastors for the past 33 and a half years.

Corpus Christi has grown over the years to be the largest parish in the Archdiocese. More important, our parish has grown in becoming what its name signifies: Corpus Christi – The Body of Christ – the living presence of Jesus in our part of the world. Corpus Christi is known for its joyful, welcoming spirit, and we know your love for one another and for all who come here will continue in the future. As we remember the past with gratitude, let us look to the future with joyful hope!

With love and gratitude, your brothers in Christ,

Fr. James F. Zoghby
Fr. John S. Boudreaux
