Thank You to PVRW/AZFRW members and our friends in government - Kathy & Bob Littlefield, Joseph Chaplik, Shelli Boggs - for helping to make the AZLEOS' Shop With a Cop event an amazing success for the kids!
Michal Joyner: 1st VP, Programs
We had an amazing December meeting, and I’m giving all the credit to Joan Lang and Carol Ann Smith. To say that the meeting exceeded my expectations is an absolute understatement. While we were honoring ALECA and their amazing dogs, hearing Joan Lang read the bios of each dog prior to the auction of the artwork was worthy of an academy award. Carol Ann has worked with this group for years, and she tirelessly keeps their good deeds and needs in front of our Board. Thank you to both of these ladies and thank you to the police officers who attended with their dogs.

Our January meeting will feature three separate topics:
- Loren Spivack is a popular Republican speaker and author who has spoken all over the United States offering fresh opinions on current events and our economy. He was a keynote speaker at the Michigan and Minnesota state Conventions and spoke with Kelly Ann Conway at the Delaware State Convention.
- The second speaker will be our PVRW member Yvonne Cahill. Her extensive bio will appear in our luncheon announcement. Yvonne will tell us about a project she's been working on for over two years with ASU, U of A and NAU called the Museum of Democracy. I can’t wait to hear about this major accomplishment.
- Our last speaker will be Ann Atkinson, former Executive Director of the T.W. Lewis Center at ASU. She's led over 150 programs on entrepreneurship, personal development and traditional American values. Her topic will be “Breaking the Ideological Cartel in Higher Ed: How you can Make a Difference”. If you don’t already know her story, I know you will realize that she is a passionate advocate for free expression.
As we approach the Christmas season, I wish each one of you a wonderful Holiday celebration. I, too, am excited for the changes and improvements that our President will bring to our nation.
See you next year!

Ladies- thank you so much to everyone for supporting ALECA in December! At Palo Verde, we truly love and support our law enforcement!
And to further show our support... January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. It is an opportunity to thank our wonderful police officers for their service and commitment to safety on our neighborhoods.
For our January meeting, please bring baked goods to deliver to our police and fire stations. It can be home-made or store-bought. Something special to let them know we appreciate their service! Thank you!!

M. Stephens & J. Alford: Political Legislative and Campaign Team
As the holidays approach, it's also time to gear up for the Arizona State Legislative Session starting on January 13, 2025. Thanks to your hard work during the November election, we've gained seats in both houses, including LD4. We now hold a 16-12 Republican majority in the Senate and a 29-24 Republican majority in the House. This should help us pass conservative legislation in 2025, despite ongoing vetoes
from Governor Katie Hobbs.
In the 2024 Legislative Session, a total of 196 bills were passed and sent to the Governor, with 152 signed into law and 44 vetoed by Governor Hobbs - significantly fewer than last year. Steve Montenegro (LD29) was elected Speaker of the House, and Warren Peterson (LD14) was re-elected as President of the Senate.
Looking ahead to 2025, many bills have already been pre-filed, indicating the state's legislative priorities. These include speeding up vote counting, securing water supply, addressing transgender bathroom policies, improving healthcare access, increasing teacher salaries, and enforcing state-level immigration laws following the passage of Proposition 314. With one of the most conservative state legislatures in
recent history and a mandate from the popular vote to shift away from far-left politics, it promises to be a busy year.
Make sure you're signed up for the Arizona Request to Speak Program so you can provide input to your legislators. Our Legislative Alerts will start mid-January.
Here's to a successful 2025!

We all worked so hard to get our conservative candidates elected. Now we need to help our state legislators pass laws which will improve our state. You won’t want to miss this important meeting. Michele Stephens will explain the Arizona Request to Speak System and guide us on how to influence future Arizona legislation. Michele has an extensive background in government affairs, having represented over 440 consumer product companies in Washington, DC. Her work involved monitoring legislation, spending time on Capitol Hill, and collaborating with the EPA, FDA, and CPSC. She then moved to AZ to continue her work in Government and Regulatory Affairs at the Dial Corporation. Now retired, Michele leverages her wealth of experience to monitor the AZ State Legislature and educate conservatives on how to make their voices heard.

🌲MERRY CHRISTMAS!🌲
Our December 11th fundraiser for ALECA was a huge success!
I want to thank all our ladies who purchased the magnificent Paw Prints and also those who donated to ALECA without having made the winning bid! You all are amazing, generous and awesome!

I, personally, as well as the ALECA staff and our dear Carol Ann Smith cannot thank you enough for your generosity! With the auction and the gun raffle, we were able to send
ALECA into 2025 with a whopping $12,509.58!!!! This money ensures that the dogs will have what they need to do their jobs safely

So, from your Fundraising Committee and the ALECA staff…. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

December Americanism Moment |
The Boston Tea Party: Why Did it Happen?
On December 16, 1773, at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston Massachusetts, frustrated American Colonists, dressed in Native American garb to disguise their identities, dumped 342 containers of tea imported from the British East India Company into the harbor. They had sliced open the chests to make certain that all of the tea would be soaked.
The Colonists were angry over being taxed without representation by the British government. This angry act of defiance against Great Britain was the first of many acts by the citizens of the 13 colonies to demonstrate their need for independence. The colonists were tired of living under continuing rule by King George III and his Parliament.
The Sons of Liberty was formed by local merchants and tradesmen to fight against taxation without representation by such historical patriots as Benedict Arnold, Patrick Henry, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and John Hancock. They held meetings to discuss protesting against tea which came from China with taxation to the Colonists. Thousands of people joined together to refuse the taxation. Benjamin Franklin felt that the British East India Company should be reimbursed for their tea. King George III and Parliament enacted the Coercive Act giving all power in the American Colonies to Great Britain. The Colonists were more determined than ever to rid themselves of rule by Britain, thus they plotted continuing revenge.
