Topic: Child Sexual Abuse: Identifying, Treating, and Preventing CSA with the Family Learning Program

After this session participants will be able to:

1. Define child sexual abuse (CSA) and identify common symptoms of CSA

2. Be conversant in prevalence rates, protective and resilience factors, and prevention approaches

3. Identify different approaches to CSA treatment, including TF-CBT

4. Relate lessons learned to case studies and understand the Florida DOH-sponsored Family Learning Program’s evidence-based approach to treatment
About Family Learning Program: The Family Learning Program is dedicated to providing best practice psychological services to improve the lives of children, adolescents and families who have experienced neglect and/or abuse.

Presenter: Michael DeLuc
Michael is a graduate student in the Psychology in Education Program at Teachers College, Columbia University and the Data Records Specialist at the Family Learning Program at Florida Tech. His research, clinical, and teaching work are aimed at improving outcomes in the treatment of emotional disorders and trauma, and the prevention of high-risk behaviors and self-harm especially in adolescents and their families.

Marian is a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at Florida Institute of Technology and Clinician at the Family Learning Program where she provides Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to clients who have experienced Sexual Abuse. Marian has extensive research and clinical experience in working with families who have experienced sexual abuse.
