| PUCCINI ANNOUNCED AS NEW FIRE CHIEF |
Schaumburg Village Manager Brian Townsend is pleased to announce the recommendation of Fabio Puccini as the Village of Schaumburg’s next Fire Chief. Puccini will assume his new role on Sept. 13 following the retirement of Chief Jim Walters on Sept. 12.
Puccini has served the Village of Schaumburg for more than 23 years, rising through the ranks and holding positions of Deputy Chief of Operations and Deputy Chief of Administration. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University and possesses numerous professional fire service certifications, including Chief Fire Officer.
Throughout his career, Puccini has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership development, taking advantage of the village’s internal programs in leadership training, coaching, and interdepartmental collaboration. He is recognized for building strong relationships within the department and across other village operations, as well as for his dedication to the Schaumburg community.
The recommendation for Puccini’s appointment will be presented to the Village Board at the Aug. 26 meeting. Read the full press release on the village website.
| SEPTEMBERFEST: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW |
Schaumburg's 54th annual Septemberfest is back Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29–Sept. 1! Septemberfest will take place on the grounds of the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct., and offer the same great experience as in past years. Visit the Septemberfest website for information and the full lineup of activities and entertainment.
Summit Drive and Prairie Center Lot Closures
To make room for the fun, the parking lot at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts will be closed beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 25. Summit Drive will also close temporarily between Schaumburg Road and New Mill Drive starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, for festival setup. The road will reopen briefly around 11 p.m. before closing again at 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and remaining closed until the fest wraps up on Monday, Sept. 1.
Getting To The Fest
There is no public parking available on the festival grounds. Park for free and ride the free, convenient Septemberfest Shuttle Bus from Schaumburg High School, Conant High School, and Addams Jr. High School to the festival grounds.
ADA parking spaces are located in the School District 54 parking lot. Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) is also available for seniors and persons with disabilities, free of charge. Call (847) 352-8097 at least 60 minutes in advance to schedule your ride.
If you’re biking in, bike racks are available near the festival entrances. Please note that e-bikes and e-scooters aren’t permitted inside the grounds. E-bikes and e-scooters are strictly prohibited on festival grounds.
Preparing For Emergencies
Stay connected while you’re enjoying the fest! Sign up to receive timely notifications straight to your phone in the event of inclement weather or other emergencies. Text FEST2025 to 888777 or sign up online. In case of inclement weather, please remember that tents should not be used as shelter.

Tarps & Personal Items
Want the best spot along the parade route? Tarps, chairs, and blankets can be placed along Summit Drive beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31. On the festival grounds, personal items may be set out starting at 6 a.m. each day and must be removed nightly. Items placed early will be removed, so plan accordingly. A full list of prohibited items is available on the Septemberfest website.
We'd also like to remind guests that pets are not allowed on Septemberfest grounds. ADA recognized service animals are permitted.

Tickets for Hops & Props, taking place from 5–9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Schaumburg Regional Airport, 905 W. Irving Park Rd., are on sale now!
The public is invited to attend and enjoy local brews, food, and aircraft from across the Midwest. Vintage aircraft, live music, food trucks, and local vendors will be out in the Schaumburg Airport Hangar and Ramp for all to enjoy. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Admittance is 21 and older, and a valid ID is required for all attendees. Tickets can be purchased for $10 online via WebPay or at the door if tickets are still available.

Ever wondered how people communicate when cell towers go down? Or wanted to connect with others across the globe using just a radio and some know-how? The Village of Schaumburg's Emergency Management team has partnered with the Schaumburg Amateur Radio Club to offer a free 10-week class that prepares you to earn your FCC Amateur Radio License. Whether you’re interested in emergency preparedness, exploring a new technical hobby, or joining a worldwide community of radio operators, this course gives you the knowledge and support to get started. Classes begin Saturday, Sept. 13, and run every Saturday through Nov. 15.
