Swamp Fest


Swamp Fest is an annual event that brings thousands of people from all over. It's been held for 31 years, has over 100 vendors and has more than 5,000 attendees!

Art in the Park



Art in the Park is an annual event dedicated to fine art and craftsmanship. The 39th annual show will feature 100 unique arts exhibitors with artwork from amazing fine artists and crafters!


FREE admission. Suggested $5 parking donation. All parking donations go to support the arts in Hernando County.

Code Enforcement


On February 21, 2025, Hernando County Code Enforcement Officers took action with a sign clean-up day along County Line Rd. The issue of signs placed in the county’s right of way has been growing, and Code Enforcement would like to remind everyone that these signs are considered abandoned property and may be removed and discarded by county officials.


-Unlawfully placed signs in the right of way are subject to removal.

-Those responsible for placing these signs could face fines under Hernando County Ordinance Sec. 24-4.

Building Division


On February 20, 2025, the Hernando County Government Building Division was invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for BJ’s Wholesale Club, located at 13085 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613. The Building Division played a key role in assisting BJ’s through the permitting process, ensuring all necessary approvals and compliance with local codes. The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners were also invited to the event, with County Commissioner John Allocco attending the ribbon cutting.

Engaging with the Community | New Platform Designed For Citizens

Hernando County is proud to announce the launch of Engage Hernando, a new digital engagement platform designed to enhance communication and collaboration between residents and local government. This innovative tool aims to empower the community, allowing citizens to actively participate in local governance and civic life.


Engage Hernando (www.EngageHernando.com) provides a user-friendly interface that enables residents to share their ideas, provide feedback, and stay informed about county initiatives. The platform features interactive forums, surveys, and event announcements, making it easier for citizens to engage with their local leaders and contribute to the decision-making process.

"Engage Hernando is a significant step forward in our commitment to transparency and community involvement," said Dominique Holmes, Public Information Officer. "We believe that effective governance thrives on collaboration, and this platform will give residents a direct voice in shaping the future of Hernando County."

Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)

The CAC is an advisory board which assists the MPO in conducting effective public information and participation programs, and advising the MPO of public opinion on policy issues to be considered by the MPO.

Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (TDLCB)

The TDLCB assists the Community Transportation Coordinator with transportation disadvantaged services to those persons who because of physical or mental disability, income status, or age are unable to transport themselves or to purchase transportation and are, therefore, dependent upon others to obtain access to health care, employment, education, shopping, social activities, or other life-sustaining activities, or children who are handicapped or high-risk or at-risk.
