Pennsylvania National Horse Show Celebrates 75 Years of Equestrian Tradition in 2021
Harrisburg, PA – January 14, 2021 - Exciting changes are underway for the 75th anniversary of the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, held in Harrisburg, Pa. This premier show will celebrate its 75th anniversary from October 14-23, 2021, returning to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.
Along with US Equestrian, we are pleased to announce the return of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Final and Neue Schule/USEF Junior Jumper National Championships to “Harrisburg”. With the retirement of Peter Doubleday from PNHS, Patrick Boyle of Showplace Productions has joined the PNHS team and will serve as the new Competition Manager.
“On behalf of the entire PNHS Board, staff and exhibitors, I would like to thank Peter Doubleday for his more than 45 years of dedication and hard work. Peter’s dedication has been a driving force in maintaining the heritage and uniqueness of this iconic event”, said Susie Shirk, PNHS Foundation Executive Director.
For the first time in the history of PNHS, management will add an additional competition ring to be used throughout the duration of the event. The two-ring format will allow “Harrisburg” to retain the traditional experience of showing at indoors, while enhancing the schedule with additional opportunities for all competitors.
The schedule expansion will give PNHS, a USEF Heritage Competition, the capacity to accept more entries across the existing divisions. The new 2021 show schedule will offer exhibitors additional Class/Division opportunities to compete at this iconic and historic competition. Plans are in place to add additional lunging/warm-up areas within the facility and expand stabling to accommodate additional entries.
“After the challenge of 2020, this year is extra special for all of us, as we mark such a historic milestone, featuring so many top names in the sport over the decades,” said Shirk. “We are super excited about these changes. We are looking forward to improving the experience for horse and rider and opening our doors to an expanded field for our 2021 event.”
Mark your calendars for October 14-23, 2021 and join us to preserve the character and tradition of the storied Pennsylvania National Horse Show.
