Cory work with Jeffrey Holmes (Henry) at Bluegreen Vacations at Tradewinds (St Pete Beach). He noticed him studying lines from his script one day during some down time and asked if he was in a play. "Jeff told me about Funny Money and that one of the main players had dropped out of the production. I felt bad, so I offered to run some lines with him to help out. Secretly, I also just wanted to see if I would be interested in being in the performance."
Cory hadn't done any acting since 2008 at Slippery Rock University where he was in Henry IV Part 1 and After Ashley (Justin). Cory has also done some musicals in High School: Oliver, Pajama Game, Hello Dolly! (Vandergelder), and South Pacific (Billis).
Jeffrey really impressed Cory with his keen talent for comedy, and he appreciated that Cory was able to produce an East London brogue while running lines that day. What Cory did not know is it ended up being a pseudo-audition as Jeffery quickly implored Cory to join the play with him. After thinking about it over night, Cory felt it was a golden opportunity that had fallen into his lap and he couldn't just pass it up.
"I am very pleased, and grateful, to be the final Vic in my first performance at St. Petersburg City Theatre. Cheers!" Cory shared with us. We are also delighted to have Cory as Vic and hope this reignites his interest in performing on stage!
