Series: The Guardian of Nature
NEW BOOK: THE LITTERBUG STORY

#Launch / Stories that inspire change

We are very excited to publish the third book of our environmental series: THE GUARDIAN OF NATURE AND THE LITTERBUG STORY, by our Executive Director Jessica Sheffield Zamora, and illustrated by Shannon McWhirter.

A story of kindness and courage, of evolution and transformation about the change (internal and external) that we want to see within ourselves, our homes, in our communities, and on our planet. 🌱🌎

This story will change the way in which children view the problems of solid waste, and introduces the concept of circularity of nature and its essence is based on values. The first thousand copies are being donated to the children of Nosara's public schools (thanks to the support of community members!).

1000 New Trees for Nosara

#Reforestation / Plant a Tree for Nosara Campaign

Thanks to everyone who signed up for our campaign to plant 1,000 trees for Nosara, in collaboration with the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity, Municipality of Nicoya, Del Mar Academy, Costas Verdes, and the Nosara Hardware Store we strengthened the initiative of Green Nicoya.

Nosara lost its forests in the 1950s and 1960s due to ranching, but we managed to get them back. Today we are losing them again due to accelerated urban development. This change can be irreversible if we do not do something about it. With concrete actions, we will be able to reverse this trajectory and continue to be a model community that strives to live in harmony with its environment.

Regenerative Schools
The Transforming Heart of the Community

#Regenerative Schools / 8 Schools + Businesses + Civil Society

Selina Nosara, Olas Verdes, Harmony Hotel, Hotel Boutique Lagarta Lodge,The Gilded Iguana, and Nosara Hardware Store, are our partners and allies of the private sector for the initiative: “Regenerative Schools: The Transformative Heart of community". They support and provide human, technical, and financial resources to the 8 schools in the Nosara district, to turn them into a model of sustainable and regenerative development.

We continue to co-create and trace a path for schools, we hope that this experience will be a model to be replicated in the rest of the country. Deep and lasting changes are achieved through a shared vision.

Environmental Festival

#Festival / ONE EARTH 🌎

We coordinated the Environmental Festival for Del Mar Academy 2022 with the theme: ONE EARTH. This event had a main purpose: the reconnection with each other and with nature.

It was a day full of fun and educational activities for over 250 students. As special guests, we had experts in fields such as the regeneration of corals, trees, and wildlife. We had stations on the Sustainable Development Goals, planting of native species, a game about the Pacific garbage patch, and a barter fair to practice the circularity nature, among many other activities.
