Mark Leinweaver has spent 20 years working in sports as a baseball agent, media relations director, TV and radio broadcaster, author, television writer & producer and coaching convention director.

He is a frequent speaker at high schools nationwide, defining the fundamental elements of PERFECT PLAYCEMENT, the company he founded who is devoted to helping student athletes navigate their way through college decisions.

This event is open to and perfect for students, parents and coaches.
Costa Boys Beach Volleyball heads to playoffs with
undefeated regular season record!
Mira Costa Boys Beach Volleyball played its last league matches on Saturday, September 22. All three levels, Varsity, JV, and Frosh-Soph, defeated both their opponents, Loyola and Notre Dame. With this, all three are undefeated League Champions!
For varsity, junior Jack Walmer and sophomore Ben Coordt played on Court 1. Senior Thomas Kretschmer and junior Chase Coppedge played on court 2, and senior Adam Sevier and junior Luke Snyder played on Court 3. All three pairs swept their opponents on the way to their victories.
Costa Beach heads into playoffs next week, with the pairs competition on Saturday and the team championship the next week!
Costa Boys Water Polo is back in action at Mira Costa pool!
Many thanks to the Costa coaches and neighboring schools for making sure Costa athletes were able to continue practicing while the Costa pool was repaired. Additionally, a big shout out to Stephanie Hall who kept everyone updated each step of the way. What could have been a disaster is now a faded memory and the boys are excited about the rest of the season! Congrats to Costa graduates playing Water Polo at the Collegiate Level!

Paul Matt  (2018) enters his first season at USC.
Finn Pardon  (2017) is a Sophmore at San Jose State University where last year, he was second on team in goals with 34, third on team in points with 40 and second on team in steals with 31.
Christian Thornton  (2017) is a Sophmore at Clairmont Mckenna where last season he had 18 goals and 11 assists as a freshman in 2017, ranking fifth on the team with 29 points.
Jake Miller-Tolt  (2016) is a Junior at Fordham where he was named First Team MAWPC All-East Division after an excellent sophomore campaign, named MAWPC Offensive Player of the Week once and Defensive Player of the Week twice and selected to the MAWPC All-Championship First Team.
Costa Girls Tennis defeats rival Palos Verdes in first Bay League match!

In the first Bay League match of the year for both teams, the Division 1 #8 ranked Mustangs defeated the Division 1 #5 ranked Sea Kings. In singles, Audrey Vo (MC) won two sets in first position 6-3 and 6-1; and Haily Hyunh (MC) won two sets 6-2 and 6-3. In doubles, Lindsay Giese/Nicole Weulfing (MC) won three sets in first position 7-5, 7-5, and 6-4; and Sydney Vo/Kacey Feng (MC) won three sets 6-3, 6-3, and 6-3. Although Katie Hart, the #1 singles player for Palos Verdes, got sick during the match, it was still a great win for the Mustangs who avenged a 6-0 loss to the Sea Kings at the Golden State Classic at Stanford on September 8.
Mira Costa Record: 8-2 (1-0 in Bay League).
Mira Costa Girls Varsity Volleyball traveled to sunny Phoenix, Arizona last weekend for the Nike Tournament of Champions, a highly regarded tournament which brings in some of the top teams from around the country, many ranked nationally in the top 25.
On day one, Friday September 21, Costa first played Mountain Ridge High.
Costa Cross Country sweeps Iolani Cross Country Invitational in Oahu!
Mira Costa Cross Country travelled to Oahu, Hawaii with a selection of its top runners to compete in the 20th annual Iolani Cross Country Invitational. It was a clean sweep as Mira Costa emerged the meet’s winners, taking first place across the board for the Men’s & Women’s Open & Varsity 5000 Meter races. Standout individual performances included  Read More

Costa Choir performs at the Distinguished Alumni Ceremony!
M ira Costa Choirs have started off the year brilliantly. On Friday, Sept, 21st Choral Union, Mustang Chorale and Vocal Ensemble sang the Alma Mater for the Mira Costa Hall of Fame Distinguished Alumni Ceremony. Encircling the audience at both assemblies, the combined choirs beautifully gave tribute to Mira Costa through their singing. Vocal Ensemble has an on campus retreat Sept. 28-29 in the choir room where they will be diligently learning music for Fall Festival and Winter Concert.

Congratulations to Cinematic Arts student Ethan Nahlinder, whose short film “Void” was selected to screen at the prestigious All American High School Film Festival in New York City next month.   Click here i f

MCHS Surf Team prepares for Kick-Off Classic in October!
The MCHS Surf Team continues to run practice mornings starting at 6:30am at 26th Street in Manhattan Beach. Coach Geller is working hard to run heats among all competitors and the kids are surfing on another level.
The annual Kick-Off Classic starts the first week of October with the preliminary heats being run during the week before school. The finals of the KOC will be held on Saturday October 13 at El Porto in north Manhattan Beach. The day will be filled with excellent surfing competition so come on down to the beach and cheer on our team! September updates for Costa Marching Band and Colorguard!
The Mira Costa Marching Band and Colorguard finished a full day of rehearsing last weekend, then played at the Hall of Fame game on Friday the 21st. They were proud to play for the esteemed alumni, and to also showcase the fabulous show “The Pack”. They debuted one of their tree props on the field. The next time everyone sees the show, there will be a whole forest, all thanks to a group of amazingly dedicated band parent volunteers! Read More

The Laramie Project
Mira Costa High School Drama/Tech is proud to announce its fall production of The Laramie Project, an emotionally riveting drama by Moisés Kaufman and the Techtonic Theatre Company, which centers on the death of gay college student, Matthew Shephard, and how his murder affected his community and sent ripple effects across the nation. The Laramie Project is playing November 2nd-10th in Mira Costa’s Small Theatre Read More

Costa Rugby Off-Season Program Underway
The Costa Boys and Girls Rugby team offseason program is up and running. The Rug­gers are practicing 4 days a week. For all those not presently playing a fall sport now is the time to come out. For the inexperienced this is a great time to learn the Laws of Rugby, work on basic skills and get to know your teammates. Both the boys and girls have a solid nucleus of expe­rienced players that are not only great players but also great coaches as they are more than willing to help their inexperienced teammates get better.
