GREENVILLE, N.C. — The intersection of East Fifth Street and Cotanche Street is expected to be closed to motorists beginning next month as part of construction on the BUILD Project.
This closure is anticipated to begin Monday, November 4. It is expected to be in place for approximately 5-6 months to allow for improvements that include wider sidewalks, brick crosswalks, site furnishings, and street trees. This work is part of the $48.5-million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Project that began in August 2023.
Motorists can use Reade Circle and East Fourth Street to avoid the construction area. The intersection of Evans Street and Fifth Street will remain open during this work. Additionally, Cotanche Street north of Reade Circle will be temporarily converted to two-way traffic to allow motorists to access the Chico’s parking lot.
The intersection of West Fifth Street and Washington Street remains closed for BUILD Project construction, with an estimated remaining duration of 2-3 months.
