New Family Night

New families are invited to participate in a New Family Night at the Cottonwood County Fairgrounds on Friday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. We will have pizza for all families present. RSVP by August 2.

Shooting Sports practice

The final shooting sports practice will be held on August 7 at the Sun Valley Gun Club.

Federation

The next Federation meeting will be held on Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office.
Summer evening horse clinic

The final summer evening horse clinic will be held on August 7 at 7 p.m. at the Windom Arena

2019 Cottonwood County Fair dates

Cottonwood County fair dates have been set for August 14-17.


County Fair volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help throughout county fair! If you can help, please contact the Extension office!

4-H Foodstand shift supervisors needed

4-H Foodstand is looking to hire Shift Supervisors for the 2019 county fair.

More 4-H news this month

 Help is needed to set up the general exhibit building on Friday, Aug. 9. We are also in need of a few card tables to be used for general entry judging.

Final Food Stand clean-up is scheduled for August 9 at 5 p.m

The Food Stand is in need of volunteers to help make BBQ on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Food Stand is our only annual county-wide fundraiser.

Would you have a few hours to serve as a Food Stand cashier? Contact the Extension office to find out more details!

Mandatory livestock interviews are scheduled for August 13 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the commercial exhibit building attached to the general exhibit building. The livestock premium auction is scheduled for Saturday, August 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Do you know what to do on general entry judging day?

If you are unable to participate in general project conference judging, you can still exhibit. Write a narration or record yourself talking about your project, then make sure it accompanies your exhibit.

Select a picture you'd like to have entered in the people's choice catergory and let the judge know during conference judging. The public is welcome to vote on August 14 from 5-10 p.m.

Overall grand champion general (three stand purple ribbons) award winners and Cloverbuds will have their picture taken on Saturday, August 17 at 6 p.m. in the General Exhibit Building.

The county fair release time for all 4-H exhibits is Sunday August 18th.

Chaperones are needed for the Minnesota State Fair for our two encampments Aug 21-25 and Aug 31- Sept 2

4-H State Director Jennifer Skuza talks about the many youth who have visited her at the University of Minnesota this summer. Visiting college campuses is a fun and valuable experience. Learn why!
 
Staff and 4-H volunteers have an important role to keep young people safe. All 4-H volunteers and staff, no matter their role or job duties, must promptly report suspected child abuse or neglect to local law enforcement or to the appropriate social services agency.
 
4-H members in grades 6-12 who are interested in learning how to make a video or learning more about videography are invited to attend a 4-H video discovery project at the Minnesota State Fair Aug. 21-25.
