Remembering Lucy Cromwell
|
It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we must announce the passing of our dear friend and family member Lucy Cromwell. Lucy Cromwell, along with her husband William, has been a beloved member, cherished volunteer, and dedicated patron of the Center for the better part of the past decade. If you've attended a play, concert, fundraiser, or event of any kind here at Cotuit Center of the Arts, you've probably met Lucy—offering you a program, walking you to your seat, or just greeting you with a brilliant smile.
Thank you, Lucy. The Center won't be the same without you.

CCftA Cocktail Corner with Ira: The Very Berry Spritzer
With the Fourth of July around the corner, friends, and family will gather—with social distancing, of course—so I decided to feature a drink that can be made in a pitcher for the entire family, even the grandchildren. This spritzer can be made ahead of guests arriving and the alcohol can be added in the guests’ individual glass.
Ingredients:
● ½ lb. of mixed berries (Blueberries, raspberries is what I’m using)
● ½ cup of fresh basil
● 3 tbsp. fresh orange juice
● 3 tbsp. sugar
● 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
● Club soda
Directions:
Using your favorite pitcher, stir together berries, basil, orange juice, sugar, and lemon juice until sugar is dissolved and some berries have broken down. Let stand 10 minutes. Serve over ice with your favorite Vodka or Gin, topped with club soda.

We are looking for volunteers to make face masks for the Center!
We have our Gallery set up with socially-distanced worktables, complete with sewing machines and materials. Beginning this week on 7/2/20, we will have 2-hour mask-making sessions for 4 people at a time. If you're unable to donate your time, we are grateful to accept donations of some fabrics, t-shirts, and thread. Follow the link below for project times, volunteer safety & donation guidelines, and more.
And as always, thank you for helping us DO IT at COTUIT!

Check out this great video by Sam Sewell featuring the cast of
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
, whose show was scheduled to run May 6 to 24. A virus prevented that from happening, but now there is a taste of what we all missed. Stay tuned for details regarding a streamed cabaret featuring members of the casts of
Spelling Bee
and
Tommy
performing in our newly configured theater!

Come leave your creative mark on our
second exterior mural
, designed and painted by local artist
Jackie Reeves
and installed on our property by our uber-volunteer Bill Farrell.
It's a BYOB&P (Bring your own brushes and paint) community art project aimed at keeping us connected while staying apart during this pandemic.

The Gallery is awash with BLUES: artworks inspired by blues music, blue color, or blue mood…the spectrum is as wide as the creativity of the artists. More than 125 works of art were hung just before the COVID-19 crisis. View the works of art by visiting our Facebook gallery via the link below.

View Highlights from Past Productions
|
|
While the Center is closed, executive director David Kuehn will be uploading video clips of some of his favorite moments from past productions on the main stage. We realize the sound and video quality is not great—
we record our performances for archival and educational purposes only—
but it will give you a chance to come back regularly, check out some of the numbers from shows you saw and loved in the past, or that you missed. You're welcome!

Visit our Little Free Pantry and 'Art Is...' Chalk Wall
|
In an effort to help our neighbors affected by the COVID-19 crisis, the Center's
Little Free Library
has been converted into a Little Free Pantry. Take what you need, and if you can, please donate what you can spare. While you're at it, you can leave a message on our 'Art Is...' chalk wall, letting everyone know how important art is to you! Both are located just to the right of the main theater building.
