✨ CFD Website Gets a Glowup
If you haven’t visited the Cotuit Fire District website recently, click over and poke around. The Prudential Committee, in collaboration with the Fire and Water Commissioners, has completed a substantial redesign of the site. The new pages look fresh and modern, but more importantly, information is better organized, easier to find, and more accessible. And thanks to the resolution of some long-standing technical hurdles, the District now has full control of the website, which will make maintenance and future development much simpler. Congratulations CFD!

💧 Board of Water Commissioners
The Cotuit Water Department thanks the residents of Cotuit for their cooperation in responding to the voluntary water restriction issued earlier this summer. Your efforts to reduce water use help protect our shared groundwater resources, especially during periods of dry weather.
Water restrictions are based on groundwater conditions measured at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's official monitoring well, located in the Town of Barnstable. Much like a vehicle's fuel gauge, this well tracks the level of the underground water table by measuring the distance from the ground surface to the groundwater below. When groundwater levels fall below established thresholds, conservation measures are recommended to help preserve the aquifer and ensure a reliable water supply for our community. Thank you for doing your part to help protect Cotuit's water resources.
🔥 Board of Fire Commissioners
Although much of the recent progress isn’t visible from the street, significant work continues inside the new fire station addition. Interior drywall installation is now nearing completion, transforming the building into recognizable workspaces. Electrical and plumbing crews continue making steady progress throughout the facility, installing the systems that will support daily fire and EMS operations for decades to come.

Over the coming weeks, work will shift to the exterior steel structure, marking another exciting milestone as the building’s outside appearance begins to take shape. Each completed phase brings us one step closer to providing our firefighters, paramedics, and the Cotuit community with a modern, safe, and efficient facility.
We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience and support as construction continues through the busy summer months. Your understanding of the temporary inconveniences helps make this important investment in public safety possible, and we look forward to sharing more updates.

🏛️ Prudential Committee
Demolition of the Cotuit School building is nearing completion. The building is completely down, and most of the demolition debris has been removed, as has almost all of the asphalt surrounding the building. Work has begun to fill in the void of the former basement. We expect all demolition to be completed in the next two weeks. Next steps include grading and soil improvement in advance of the “return to nature” phase of the project. There will be a watering plan, at the contractor’s expense, to ensure the health of the new plants.
For safety reasons, please continue to avoid the area around the demolition/replanting site.

As another Cotuit Kettleers season comes to a close, the Cotuit Athletic Association extends its heartfelt thanks to the entire Cotuit community and incredible fans. Your support, enthusiasm, and love for summer baseball are what make Lowell Park such a special place. Whether you cheered from the stands, volunteered your time, hosted a player or intern, sponsored the team, or simply shared in the excitement of each game, you helped make this season unforgettable. - Welcome to fiscal year 2026-2027! The Friends have had a great start, with successful Plant, Bake, and Book sales. This couldn't have happened without the invaluable contributions of the many volunteers who generously donated their time and skills (and some to-die-for baked goods).

- The 55th annual CraftFest Cotuit is on Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days on the village green. Sponsored by CFC, this year’s CraftFest features more than 125 artisans and crafters, live music, and great food, including legendary lobster rolls. - On Thursday, July 30, join Paula Peters, Talia Landry, and Mashpee Wampanoag Chief Earl Mills Jr. at 6 p.m. in Hamilton Hall for a screening of Mashpee Nine, a documentary that tells the story of nine Mashpee Wampanoag drummers whose gathering at Mashpee Pond was raided by law enforcement 50 years ago, and their fight for cultural justice. Q&A will follow. Free and open to the public. Donations to the Mashpee Wampanoag Native Environmental Ambassadors are welcome.
- CFC is hosting a selection of Robert Shetterly's Americans Who Tell the Truth portraits, celebrating individuals whose courage and commitment to justice have strengthened our democracy. Portraits include Rachel Carson, Frederick Douglass, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John Lewis, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Bill McKibben, and Sojourner Truth. The exhibit is up in Hamilton Hall through August 16.

| | Cotuit Bird and Garden Club | | On Wednesday, August 12, the Club heads to sea on a Monomoy Island Excursion. The 90-minute, narrated tour of harbors, lighthouses, bird, and sea life starts in scenic Wychmere Harbor. Space aboard is limited, so reservations are required.
