| | Election Day is Tuesday, November 3! | Most Cotuit residents vote at Freedom Hall, the voting location for Precinct 7, but a few residents on Old Post Road fall into Precinct 5, and they vote in Osterville. If you’re not sure where you vote, you can find out here. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. | There are nine statewide ballot questions for this election, and some of them are tricky to parse, so be sure to read up on them and maybe take a cheat sheet with you. Tufts University offers an excellent guide to the ballot questions, and for the extremely online, an app that lets you read about the questions, log your selections, and print a cheat sheet. | We will also see Question A, an extra question that is only on Barnstable County ballots and so is not included in the Massachusetts voter information booklet mailed to households. Question A asks whether to establish a Charter Study Commission to review the structure of Barnstable County government and make recommendations for potential changes. You can find more information on Question A on the Barnstable County website. | | | COTUIT FIRE DISTRICT NEWS | | | |
💧 Board of Water Commissioners
Saving water saves money in Cotuit households. The Water Commissioners reviewed examples of water use and billing from 2025. One family of six using our public water supply to irrigate their lawn used 169,000 gallons of water last year, including domestic use. Our tiered billing system, which charges heavy users more, set their annual water bill at $1,492. Conversely, a family of four that has an inground pool and a private on-site well to irrigate the lawn used 81,000 gallons of public water, including domestic use, which cost $369. That first family might also consider installing a private well just for irrigation. The $8,000 -$12,000 outlay for the well will more than pay for itself in saved water bills issued by our department. Currently, 133 households use private wells to irrigate in Cotuit.

🔥 Board of Fire Commissioners
As work on the station addition and renovation project transitions to renovating the existing building, the Cotuit Fire Department asks for your continued patience with construction activity and any temporary inconveniences around the station. We’re working with our contractors to support daily operations and maintain emergency services throughout the project. And don't worry -- we'll be serving our famous firehouse chili as usual during Christmas in Cotuit on December 5!
