Headlines
I am excited to contribute this first “Headline” message for Calverton’s new all-school communication! Rebuilding connection and community among students at Calverton has been a recurring theme this year, and so it is quite fitting to arrive at the name Cougar Connection.
This new communication piece was inspired by several sentiments expressed throughout the fall which surfaced in parent conversations and through our family survey. Some families shared the desire for more all-school highlights, updates, and happenings. We heard this call clearly, and we have responded! We hope you will find its content to be valuable and allow you to feel connected to the good things being experienced at Calverton each day. Your feedback and ideas are appreciated and will ensure our Cougar Connection is seen as a relevant resource to anticipate each month.
Just as this first issue is coming to fruition, there are glimpses of community and connection being revealed between our own students in ways we haven’t seen since March 2020. Last week, over 20 Upper School students traveled to Philadelphia to connect with peers at the Ivy League United Nations Conference. And today, Lower School students began a new relationship with their Upper School Reading Buddies and enjoyed snow-themed books and games. What a joy to see our students finally able to delight in these meaningful and shared experiences!
I am hopeful these opportunities for connectedness at Calverton are just a peek into the many more to come in 2022 and beyond!
Warmly,
Jamey Hein
Interim Head of School
