After Five Years in Foster Care, Dreya Needed a Family

Through five years in foster care, Dreya had multiple placements, schools and caseworkers. But she had one Dallas CASA volunteer, Ann-Marie, who was determined to help this little girl find a family that would appreciate her energy and zest for life. But could a home that didn't work out before work out now? And was that the right choice for Dreya?

Dallas CASA Board Welcomes New Chair, Board Members

The Board of Directors of Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has elected a new board chair and executive committee, as well as three new board members.


Janice Z. Davis, a corporate and transactional attorney and partner at Haynes and Boone, will serve as board chair. Davis also is a Dallas CASA volunteer who recently completed a four-year case involving four children.


New members of the board include:



  • Krista Hanvey, co-partner in charge of the Dallas office of Gibson Dunn, where she is co-chair of the firm's employee benefits and executive compensation practice group
  • Ashley Scheer, an employment attorney at Jackson Walker and a Dallas CASA volunteer since 2019
  • Andrew White, a managing director at Goldman Sachs, which was the recipient of Dallas CASA's 2025 Champion of Children Award for the firm's commitment to children served by Dallas CASA

Thank You to Dallas CASA's Young Professionals

Dallas CASA's Young Professionals hosted their largest annual fundraiser, the CASAblanca casino party, on January 30 at The Adolphus Hotel. All funds raised at the event benefit the child victims of abuse or neglect who are served by Dallas CASA. The Dallas CASA Young Professionals is a vibrant group of professionals aged 21 to 40 who serve as an outreach, volunteer and fundraising arm for Dallas CASA.

Comerica Bank Prom Dress Drive Benefits Dallas CASA Teens

Your gently used formal wear could make a teen’s prom an unforgettable experience. The Comerica Bank Prom Dress Drive runs now through February 28. Drop off new or gently used formal attire, including shoes, purses and accessories, and those items will be donated to Dallas CASA's annual prom dress boutique for teens in foster care.

Dallas CASA's Cherish the Children Returns April 17

Mark your calendars for Dallas CASA's Cherish the Children luncheon coming April 17 to the Arts District Mansion.


Dallas CASA will honor Laura and Sarah Losinger with the Caroline Rose Hunt Cherish the Children Award for their longtime dedication to Dallas CASA and the broader community. Barbara and Margaret Cervin will chair the luncheon, which is hosted by Dallas CASA Children's Council.

First Watch Supports the Children Served by Dallas CASA

We are excited to share that First Watch has partnered with Dallas CASA to support children in foster care across North Texas.


Starting now and continuing throughout the year, First Watch’s kids’ menus at its 28 DFW locations will highlight Dallas CASA’s mission and include a QR code for families to learn more or explore volunteer opportunities. Even better, First Watch will donate 25 cents from every kids’ meal sold to help ensure children in foster care have a caring advocate by their side.

Parade of Playhouses Moves into NorthPark Center May 22

Dallas CASA’s Parade of Playhouses, the agency’s signature community event, returns to NorthPark Center May 22 to June 7. The Parade of Playhouses features custom children’s playhouses designed, built and donated by local architects, builders and organizations. The playhouses are displayed for 17 days and are available to win by raffle. All proceeds from raffle ticket sales support children living in foster care.


The event will be early this year due to the FIFA World Cup, which begins in Dallas and other cities on June 11. Crest Auto Group will present the event, with NorthPark Center serving as host sponsor.

Dallas CASA's Director of Public Policy Chad Frymire spoke to the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate magazine about his work fighting human trafficking, misconceptions and his personal mission to keep children and youth safe.

Every Child Every Chance Summit February 27
