Kyle, 18, Was Ready for a Family
For 18-year-old Kyle, childhood had been a series of losses. First, his mother died and his father was unable to parent due to drug addiction. He moved in with his aunt, but then she developed terminal cancer. Foster care had been one placement after another.

But something felt different with the Hansons, a couple in their late 20s looking to foster a teenager. Even though he was now legally an adult, could he have found his forever family?

New Dallas CASA Volunteer Carries on Three Generations of Tradition
Young Dallas CASA volunteer Claire Arnold is following in the steps of her mother Jannah Nerren and her grandmother Brenda Walters, who both serve as CASA volunteers for CASA of the Pines in East Texas. “Growing up, I saw my mom putting time and effort into being a good advocate for the children she served,” Claire said. “I knew once I got settled after graduating college, it was something I wanted to do.”

The Dallas County Disproportionality and Disparities Council (DCDDC) will host its first annual race equity conference and community resource fair Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1. The theme of this inaugural event is Journey Towards Race Equity: Rebounding from COVID. Friday's live-streamed conference will feature experts discussing race-related disparate impacts and emerging solution in the areas of health, education, child welfare/juvenile justice, mental health and economic opportunities. Saturday's community resource fair is free and open to the public and will feature entertainment, free food and workshops on children's health and wellness, family mental health and addiction recovery and employment opportunities.

Dallas CASA is sponsoring the event, along with the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas County, Recovery Resource Council and the City of Dallas.

Dallas CASA's Parade of Playhouses
Dallas CASA’s beloved annual Parade of Playhouses returns this summer to NorthPark Center. The event features custom-designed and built children’s playhouses on display and available to win by raffle. All funds raised from the event benefit the child victims of abuse or neglect served by Dallas CASA’s volunteer advocates. The event opens July 14 and runs through July 30.

CASA at the Texas Capitol
On March 1, Dallas CASA supporters traveled to Austin for CASA Day at the Capitol. The group's 16 scheduled appointments presented valuable opportunities to communicate the tremendous value of the work of CASA volunteers. Comerica's Prom Event Benefits Teens Served by Dallas CASA
For two special Saturdays in March, Dallas CASA's training room was transformed into a prom boutique. Shopping donated clothing items including dresses, menswear, jewelry and shoes, teens served by Dallas CASA were able to shop for the prom outfit of their dreams.

Save the Date
Dallas CASA's Champion of Children dinner returns Thursday, October 12 at the Fairmont Dallas. All funds raised at the event go to supporting children served by Dallas CASA's volunteers.
