Baby Nadya Needed Medical Support After Her Birth

Baby Nadya was born weeks early and tested positive for illegal drugs and syphilis at birth. Her mother could not provide contact information and reported that she had been homeless and could not care for her baby.

Baby Nadya desperately needed medical treatment, support and a family. Hospital staff called Child Protective Services. Could Nadya's CASA volunteer, Anupa, help ensure Nadya received the care she needed and found a family?

November is National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month, a collective, national effort by advocates, practitioners and policymakers in more than 400 communities nationwide to raise awareness of the more than 135,000 children living in foster care waiting for permanent and loving families.

In 2024, 127 Dallas children were adopted from foster care, with another 124 children in adoptive placements and 171 children waiting to be adopted. This year, Dallas CASA will host the Dallas National Adoption Day event, a day set aside for child welfare judges and courts to donate time to consummate adoptions before the holidays.

Dallas CASA Named Top Place to Work by The Dallas Morning News

Dallas CASA was named to The Dallas Morning News' Top 100 Places to Work list for the second time, ranking in 13th place among organizations with fewer than 150 employees. Winners were selected through a survey using employee feedback. Despite the additional challenges Dallas CASA employees faced during a transition to a privatized child welfare, employees continued to rank Dallas CASA as a top place to work on key metrics such as leadership, meaningfulness, pay and benefits.
