Annual vacation bidding for 2025 will end on Saturday, November 30. We are currently in the fourth bid period and there are a few important things you may want to consider before bidding closes.
Vacation Carry Over
One of the many great provisions of our contract is vacation carry over (Section 18.D.2.). This provision allows you to carry over (save) one week of vacation per year up to a total of 4 to 6 weeks depending on your years of service. This is extremely helpful if you’re planning for an important event in your future (or saving for a rainy day) since it allows you to set aside a portion of your vacation each year. Your minimum vacation requirement for 2025 will be recalculated in January. If you do not exceed your minimum vacation requirement for 2025 the unused portion (one week) will be carried over into 2026!
Pop Up Trip Bank Designation
The deadline to submit your pop-up trip bank designation form is Saturday, November 30. Each day designated for pop-up trip bank will be converted into three hours (1 day = 3 hours), and may be used in 2025 as provided by Section 18.E.3.c. of the contract. Any unused pop-up trip bank hours will be paid out to you in January 2026. Please keep in mind that if you would like to carry over vacation into 2026, you should not designate ALL REMAINING DAYS (question 1) in the pop-up trip bank designation form.
Regular 2025 Vacation Requests
You may begin to submit regular vacation requests (pop-up, 7 days or more, cancellation, etc.) for the 2025 calendar year beginning at 9:01 am LDT on Sunday, December 1. The first daily vacation award for 2025 will happen on Monday, December 2.
