Grand Knight's Report

Brother Knights,

July 2025 is now in the record books. Here are some of the coming and goings of the month. On Sunday, July 13th, we held our Sunday Breakfast and it benefited the English as Second Language (ESL) Ministry. It was our second most successful breakfast in 2025. I was unable to help during the breakfast but I want to thank all the Brother Knights for stepping up to help. Great job Brother Knights.

On Saturday, July 19th, St. John Neumann and Council 7923 hosted the North Georgia State Knights of Columbus meeting in Reynolds Hall. About 150 Brother Knights across the State converged upon us. The newly installed State Officers were introduced. Recruiting was one of the main topics and during the meeting new SJN Priest Fr. Santosh became part of us. We are glad to have him in Council 7923 as a Brother Knight. Our Council served a Christmas in July themed lunch where we served ham, sweet potatoes, salad, and rolls. With lunch and the 50/50 drawing our Council raised over $1,600. Great job Brother Knights. After the meeting, the Unity Mass or the Vigil Mass was held and all the State Officers and a few Knights from the meeting attended. Fr. Sunny said some very kind words about the Knights of Columbus during Mass. Thank you, Fr. Sunny.

On a sad note, we lost Darlene Carroll on Wednesday, July 9th. She was the wife of Past Grand Knight James “Jim” Carroll. Her funeral was held on Friday, July 18th. Darlene will be greatly missed. On another sad note, we lost Sir Knight Steve Drzik on Monday, July 14th. He is also the Father-In-Law of Brother Knight Ed Danzter. Several Brother Knights have told me that he was one of the best Brother Knights in Council 7923’s history and if we could’ve awarded SK Steve Drzik Knight of the Year every year he would’ve rightly earned that award. SK Steve Drzik will be greatly missed. His Funeral will be on Monday, August 4th, at 10:00 am. Please pray for the repose of the souls of Darlene Carroll and SK Steve Drzik.

On July 27th, we held our Fish Fry Appreciation Dinner. I want to thank all the Brother Knights and their wives who helped us. It was a well-attended and fun event. We had Mexican food catered from Los Hermanos. I hope to do more fun events like this in the future. Looking ahead, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Sunday Breakfast on Sunday, August 3rd. It will benefit the Preschool Scholarship Program. We will also be at the Ministry Fair on Sunday, August 10th to tell Parishioners about our organization and possibly sign them up to be part of our fine organization. May God Bless you All!

BK David Werve presented the following:
