Grand Knight's Report

Brother Knights,

May 2025 is now in the history books but let’s briefly go back in time. With the Lenten Fish Fry behind us May was a relatively easy-going month compared to March and April but here are some of the highlights. On Saturday, May 3rd St. John Neumann Catholic Church held its Confirmation Mass with Bishop Konzen saying the Mass. Six Honor Guard members including 3 from Council 7923 welcomed the Bishop and 82 Catholic teens who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The following day Sunday, May 4th, we held our Sunday Breakfast. The breakfast had a lighter-than-normal turnout, nonetheless we still managed to have a successful fundraiser for the Marriage Family Life Ministry.

During the May membership meeting, a motion was made to move the 2 chest freezers that were recently purchased from the Fish Fry expense budget to the Charitable expense budget. This way the Church has ownership of the 2 chest freezers. The motion was seconded and tabled. On the June 9th meeting the tabled motion will be officially voted on. Also, during the meeting Officer Nominations were made for the 2025-2026 Fraternal Year and the slate of Officers will be officially voted on Monday, June 9th, 2025.

The Georgia State Convention was held in Jekyll Island on May 16th-18th where I and another Brother Knight voted for the State Officers for the 2025-2026 Fraternal Year. Looking ahead, on Sunday, June 1st the Knights will host our monthly breakfast and it will benefit the Walking with Moms Ministry. Then on June 7th, our Council will be hosting a Fourth Degree Exemplification Ceremony. I encourage any 3rd Degree Brother Knight in our Council to consider advancing to the Fourth Degree and possibly get a sword afterward if you decide to be a part of the Honor Guard. This is a great opportunity since it will be right here at SJN. Finally, Brother Knights I send a lot of emails telling you what we’re doing. If you’re reading this instead of me telling you what we’re doing I encourage you to tell me or another Officer what you want to do. You can do this by coming to the meetings or reaching out to me or one of the other Officers individually. After all, we're here for you. May God Bless you All.

That concludes my report.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers

Lecturer's Report

BK David Werve presented the following:

"A man must go through a long and great conflict in himself before he can learn fully to overcome himself, and to draw his whole affection towards God. When a man stands upon himself he is easily drawn aside after human comforts. But a true lover of Christ, and a diligent pursuer of virtue, does not hunt after comforts, nor seek such sensible sweetnesses, but is rather willing to bear strong trials and hard labors for Christ." —Thomas a' Kempis, p. 64
