Grand Knight's Report

Brother Knights,

February 2026 and March 2026 may well be over but let us reminisce over these past 2 months. This will be an extended report due to my being in Germany for 3 weeks and a lot happened over the past 2 months. First, the Knights of Columbus hosted six Lenten Fish Fry Dinners from Friday, February 20th to Friday, March 27th. It was another tremendous success. We served cod fish and clam chowder and this year our grilled shrimp was a big hit. I want to thank all the Brother Knights for their dedication to making our Fish Fry Dinners success and the Life Teen group for really showing up to bring meals to Parishioners and staying after to clean up. I also want to thank BK Joe Molyson and BK Mike MacFarlane for improving the organization of our supplies and chairing the 2026 Lenten Fish Fry Dinners.

On Monday, February 9th we held our membership meeting and there wasn’t any outstanding business that we had to attend to, therefore, it was a standard meeting. However, we finalized our plans for the upcoming Lenten Fish Fry Dinners. On Monday, February 9th we lost longtime Brother Knight Larry Hoffman. He served many years as an Officer for our Council as an Advocate. He was a long-time cashier at our monthly Sunday breakfasts. BK Larry also regularly mowed the lawn at the Sisters of the Visitation Monastery in Snellville. BK Larry Hoffman was a devout Catholic and a family man. He would always talk about his family with me. His funeral was on Thursday, February 19th. He will be greatly missed.

On Thursday, March 19th we lost Brother Knight Paul Klepac. BK Paul was an Usher at the 11:00 am Mass on Sunday, a cashier for our Sunday breakfast and a regular on the serving line at the Lenten Fish Fry Dinners. Furthermore, he was a Boat Captain on Lake Lanier and graciously offered anyone he knew a ride. Most importantly, BK Paul was a devout Catholic and he was a Parishioner at St. John Neumann for over 30 years, and a great admirer of St. Joseph and the Feast of St. Joseph was on Thursday, March 19th. BK Paul was a very pleasant person and was always willing to give his time for a conversation. BK Paul Klepac's funeral was on Friday, March 27th. He will be greatly missed. Please pray for the soul of BK Knight Larry Hoffman and BK Paul Klepac.

Looking ahead, the Knights will restart our Family Breakfast on Sunday, April 12th one week after Easter Sunday. Our Council took the months of February and March off due to the Lenten Fish Fry Dinners. But we are ready to restart our Sunday Breakfasts. At this time, I would like to thank some other Brother Knights who made our Fish Fry Dinners a success. BK Frank Swider for helping with purchasing, BK Bruce Rago for his commitment and service, BK Eddie Reyes for taking care of the bar, BK Steve Brischler for cashiering and compiling the reports for our Council, and BK Peter Romano for his in-depth analysis of the numbers. Finally, I want to thank ALL our Brother Knights again for taking their time to help with the Lenten Fry Dinners. Great job guys. We will have a Fish Fry appreciation dinner soon. Remember Brother Knights our Council doesn’t close shop for the year after the Lenten Fish Fry Dinners. We have plenty of opportunities throughout the year to serve the SJN Parish Community, like our Sunday Breakfast or a special request to cook hamburgers and hot dogs for a ministry or for a Church function. So, Brother Knights please consider staying involved with Knights of Columbus. May God Bless you All and Happy Easter Brother Knights!

That concludes my report.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers
