Grand Knight's Report

Dear Brother Knights,

Here is the report for July 2024. It was another action-packed month and here are some of the highlights. On Sunday, July 7th we had our Sunday breakfast and it benefitted the ESL Ministry. Aida Galarza the ESL Coordinator was very appreciative of the money that we raised. Then on Saturday, July 13th our Council hosted the North Georgia State Knights of Columbus Meeting. It was a well-attended meeting since it had Knights throughout the State and it was informative and successful too. I thank all the Brother Knights who helped make the meeting a success. On Saturday, July 27th, we had the “Breakfast Appreciation Night” and we had a catered dinner from Taqueria Los Hermanos. We watched the Summer Olympics and sipped on margaritas that evening. It was a fun night and I hope to have another fun-filled evening around Christmas time. Stay tuned for details at a later time.

On Monday, July 8th, we held our membership meeting. BK Frank Swider bought some pizza from Pizza Hut. Since this was the first meeting of the Fraternal Year there were no tabled or passed motions. One new thing that was implemented during the meeting is we are now checking that each Brother Knight who is attending is carrying a Rosary and their membership card. That was not previously done and I thank BK Joe Molyson for getting that established. During the meeting a Brother Knight reminded us that we are a Catholic Men’s Organization and we should make more of an effort to pray the Rosary before the meeting and attend the Monthly Knight’s Mass. I would like to reiterate what he said and encourage all Brother Knights to participate in the Rosary service before our meeting and attend the Monthly Knight’s Mass.

Now, back to the North Georgia State Knight’s Meeting. Of course, during the meeting membership was a big topic. Former Past Deputy Mark McMullen spoke about that during the meeting and he had some good pointers. First, we all know someone who is not a Knight. Therefore, ask them if they want to be a Knight. However, when asking, be prepared. Tell him how you became a Knight, mention some of the charity activities and volunteering work that we do. For example, the money we donate to Pro-Life causes and how we help support other Ministries with our Sunday Breakfasts. Tell him something personally that you enjoy about being a Knight. These were all good pointers given during PSD Mark’s presentation. I would like to add that you say a prayer that the potential Brother Knight that you are speaking with is receptive to your message too. Collectively, as Brother Knights we can all try to recruit new members so we can continue to serve the needs of the St. John Neumann Parish Community.

May God Bless you All!

That concludes my report.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers

Lecturer's Report

Paragraph 1348 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks about the Eucharist.

The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch."
