Volume 32 | March 2020
Grand Knight’s Report
Worthy Brother Knights,

We are rapidly approaching the end of our fiscal year and I would like to get a jump on the budget.

A much discussed part of the budget has been charity. How much we spend, who do we give it to, who approves, etc.

We need to put as much detail in the budget as we can, especially amounts over $500.00, that will require a separate vote if not approved in the annual budget. There will be an unassigned amount of money in the budget to take care of the requests that come up during the year but the large amounts should be in the annual budget.

Monthly Sunday breakfast profits will continue to go to Parish ministries. Other “ pass throughs” to be discussed.
Please contact me at L.M.MacFarlane@mindspring.com or cell 770 527 9983 with any charitable requests you would like to see funded. I will compile them for review and possible inclusion in the budget.

Please feel free to suggest ideas we have not done in the past.

Here some discussion points I have now:

  • Are any golf tournaments funded ?
  • Do we budget for a new warmer in the kitchen? ( $1500.00)
  • Do we help fund future "This Man Is You" events?
  • Any additional improvements to Neumann Center? Screen deck, landscaping.
  • Do we add fencing and storage to the area behind Reynolds Hall?
  • Any funding for improvements to the parish facilities other than Neumann Center?
  • Move storage building and add new footers ( $750.00)

Vivat Jesus,
Mike MacFarlane

New Business

The GK requested that he be provided with Fish Fry information, and he will take care of getting ads in the Georgia Bulletin and Parish Bulletin.  Fr. Sunny also approved putting a banner up on Tom Smith road.

SJN school is getting rid of their Mayfield ice cream freezer and giving it to the Council. We will put it in the garage and plan to use it to store food for future smoker events.

PGK Mark Davis showed one of the winning posters in the school’s substance abuse poster contest. There will be three more winners selected, and all four will be submitted to the state for the next level of competition. It had been intended to give $50 to each of the four winners.

The $200 for the poster competition winners plus the $150 for St. Stephen’s golf tournament make a total of $350 of donations that we do not have money for this year. PGK Houston Feaster requested to be recognized, and Houston stated that he would donate $50 towards funding these items and encouraged others to do likewise. Six other Knights stepped up, and due to the generosity of these Knights, the poster contest and St. Stephen’s golf will be funded.
