Grand Knight's Report
Dear Brother Knights,

Here is my monthly report. December was another active month for our Council. On Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 we had our Sunday Breakfast and it benefitted the Fransalian Associates Ministry. The breakfast was a tremendous success. It was our best breakfast of 2023. I can’t wait to see what 2024 brings. This past month the Knights participated in the Angel Tree Program. This year unlike the past couple of years due to Covid concerns we were able to deliver food and gifts to the homes of the families in need. Monastery sales for the month of November and December were outstanding. I appreciate all of BK David Werve’s time and care that he puts into the Monastery sales.
 
On Saturday, December 9th, the Knights hosted Breakfast with Santa at the St. John Neumann Regional School cafeteria. This is a special feature event that we do every year and this year was no exception. We all got into the spirit. I wore an Elf hat with bells, some other Knights wore Santa hats, and some parents wore Ugly Christmas Sweaters. It was a fun event and the School and our Council benefitted from the breakfast.
 
On December 11th, 2023 we held the membership meeting. BK Steve Brischler prepared lasagna and we all enjoyed our dinner that evening. Father Noble joined us for the meeting too. He introduced himself since he is a newer Knight and he thanked us for all that we do and he said that he is proud to be a Knight. We also prayed with him. We are glad to have Father Noble in our Council.
 
On Thursday, December 14th, 2023 I went to a special Mass for the St. John Regional Catholic School and Bishop Shlesinger said Mass. I was there to give the essay contest winners their awards. It was a beautiful Mass followed by a beautiful Christmas pageant. After the pageant I presented the essay contest winners their awards and the entire student body at the St. John Regional Catholic School gave an enthusiastic round of applause to the winners. It was a heartwarming experience.
 
On Saturday, December 16th a few Brother Knights participated in Wreaths Across America at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. All the Knights who were there had an opportunity to lay a wreath across a gravestone and say a prayer for the soul of a deceased soldier or spouse. There was even an organized flyover that made the occasion even more special. This is another special event that is held every year and I would encourage all Brother Knights to go at least one time to Wreaths Across America.
 
If you read this report or any other of my reports you know that there’s more to the Knights of Columbus than pancake breakfasts. The Knights and especially our Council offer a wide array of activities and we need help so we can continue these activities. If you are a Knight and would like to help but are unsure where to begin try volunteering at one of our monthly breakfasts and you’ll receive a warm and hearty welcome. Just ask any of our Brother Knights about that. Lenten Fish Fry Dinners are just around the corner and the first dinner will be on February 16th, 2024. The Knights of Columbus is a charitable organization and our Council play’s a huge role when it comes to the support of various Parish activities. Therefore, I would like to encourage all Knights to volunteer when you can. The teamwork and the satisfaction that you feel when you help other people is a very gratifying experience. If you read this, I hope that you will consider volunteering more. May God bless you all.

Our Mission Statement

It is useful to periodically re-examine and refresh our Knights of Columbus Mission Statement:

“We are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith. There is much work to be done in this world. Good work. Necessary work. And that’s what the Knights do. Every day.

Assisting the sick and disabled. Protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Whether they are next door or halfway around the world. This is the journey we are on our path.

We do it to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and Catholics. We invest our time, our efforts and our resources into our values. Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism.

We come from many places. And backgrounds. And stages in our lives. But we are all of one faith. A fraternity of men striving to better ourselves and our world.

It’s one thing to say who you are. IT’S ANOTHER TO LIVE IT. (emphasis added). To put your values into action. That’s what we do at the Knights of Columbus.
