Grand Knight’s Report
Worthy Brother Knights,

Our order on-line carry-out Turkey Dinner was a big success. We made a profit of $869.48, which was the highest amount ever made for a single dinner event! Another big thank you for all the Brother Knight’s who helped with the dinner.

We are planning our next dinner, which will be carry-out BBQ Pork Meal on November 7th. You can already order at kofclilburn.org/shop. A flyer is being put in the weekly bulletin, and announcements on it will be done after Mass for the next few weeks, along with emails going out to the parish. Order some up!!
We have two meetings under our belt since we started in-person again. Everyone is staying socially distanced, wearing masks and sanitizing hands. If you feel comfortable, please plan to come out to the next Membership Meeting to be held on Monday October 12th.

As you know we are getting close to election day. There has never been a more important time to make sure you vote!. We’re privileged to be able to live in this great country of ours. I pray for it, all you Brother Knight’s and your families, for your prosperity, health and safety.

Vivat Jesus,

Mark Dallas

Program Director Highlights
There are many opportunities for service at the Sisters of the Visitation convent in Snellville with numerous facility and groundskeeping projects needing help. The DGK will put together a list and description of the projects and provide that along with a point of contact for the convent so that Knights can select projects and find out when they can come to offer service. We have done service work there in the past, and with 27 acres and large building there is virtually a continuous list of projects needing attention.
Good of the Order
BK Dave Werve presented the following during last month's Good of the Order.

Today, the Gospel is a prophecy, that is, a glance into the mirror of reality that plunges us in its truth, far beyond what our own senses tell us: the Cross, the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ is the Saviour's Throne. That is why Jesus asserts, «the Son of man must be lifted up» (Jn 3:14).

We do know the Cross was the most ignominious and heinous torture of its time. To exalt the Holy Cross would therefore be some sort of cynical joke, were it not for the Crucified hanging on it. The cross, without the Redeemer, is sheer cynicism; but with the Son of man the Cross is the new tree of Wisdom. By «freely submitting himself to the passion» of the Cross, Jesus Christ has opened the substance and purpose for our lives: to be lifted up with him to the Holy Cross to fling open our arms and our heart to God's heavenly gift, in an admirable exchange. Here too, we must listen to the Father's voice that came from the heavens: «You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased» (Mk 1:11).
To be crucified with Jesus and resurrect with him: that is the reason for it all! There is hope, there is a meaning, and there is life! We are not mad when, we Christians, during the Paschal Vigil, in a most solemn way, that is, in the Easter Proclamation, sing a hymn of praise to the original sin: «O happy fault! O necessary fault of Adam, which gained for us so great a Redeemer!», who, through his pain has infused a new “significance” to pain.

«See the tree of the cross, where the Saviour of the world was crucified: come and venerate it» (Good Friday Liturgy). If we manage to overcome the scandal and insanity of Christ crucified there is nothing else for us to do but to worship him and be grateful for his Gift. And to decidedly seek the Holy Cross in our own life, to fill us up with the certainty that, «through him, with him and in him», our donation will be transformed, in the hands of the Father, for the Holy Spirit, in eternal life: «Shed for you and for many in the remission of sins».
50/50 Drawing
PGK Jim McHugh won $15.00 and he donated his winnings to “Pennies for Heaven.”
 Attendance Award
It has been decided to put the attendance award on hold until further notice due to the ongoing coronavirus which has resulted in a drop in meeting attendance.
Prayers for Knights in Need

Please pray for the following Knights in need (list from the last meeting):

  • All BK’s - For all our military and first responders who keep us safe every day.

  • Mark Dallas – For brother-in-law Mike Fain battling brain cancer.

  • Larry Hoffman – For his niece, cancer.

  • Frank Swider – For daughter Eileen, blood disorder.

  • Mark Davis – For all Knights get jobs that they are looking for.
New Business

First, it should be noted that the old business items have been resolved. We had a broken freezer which caused food spoilage. The freezer has been repaired and Steve Brischler has received wireless thermostats to monitor the refrigerator/freezer to prevent or mitigate food spoilage. Kudos to everyone who handled the freezer issue.

We also have a new flagpole with a U.S. Flag in front of the Neumann center. The flagpole was paid for by 7923.

As of September 14th, 2020 174 turkey dinners have been sold, worth a little over $1500. We will be meeting soon to discuss plans for another dinner to be done sometime in October.

Council 7923 is scheduled to host the State meeting on January 9th, 2021. According to Dominick the capacity for the meeting would be 75.

David Werve is looking into the Monastery sales that would begin November 14th. More details to come on that later.

GK Mark Dallas mentioned there is a KofC Council in Massachusetts that had white crosses that they passed out to their parishioners to display in their front yards. Mark has contacted the Council to get information as to how they worked this up. He's waiting on their response and will update when he hears back.

GK Mark Dallas mentioned the need to get the Retention Committee together. DGK Glenn Klein will be the Chairman. FS Jim McHugh mentioned it may be after first of year before records are updated to work off.
