Grand Knight's Report
Dear Brother Knights,

Here is my monthly report. January 2024 was kind of a laid-back month compared to the past few months. However, our Council still managed to host some activities. On Sunday, January 7th, 2024 we had our Sunday Breakfast and it benefitted the St. John Neumann Sponsored Boy Scout Troop 522. The breakfast was another success and I thank the Scouts for coming out to help.

On January 8th, 2024 we held our membership meeting. BK Frank Swider bought some surprisingly good pizza from Sam’s and there was some left over which I had for lunch during the week. We all enjoyed our dinner together that evening. Father Noble joined us for the meeting too and he led us in prayer. During all the membership meetings I present the Family of the Month and the Knight of the Month awards. For January 2024, I presented long-time Brother Knight Mike Clark and his wife Judy Clark for the Family of the Month and BK Tim Daly Knight with the Knight of Month. BK Tim keeps the coffee fresh and hot during our Sunday breakfasts and he gave his expert insight on insects and etymology during one of our meetings. Yes, it actually came up during a meeting. This will always be my favorite part of the meeting because I have an opportunity to acknowledge and praise an exceptional Family and Brother Knight for their service.
On Saturday, January 13th, 2024 St. John Neumann hosted the North Georgia State Deputy Meeting. All the Georgia State Officers were present and they gave us reports on recent Knights of Columbus State activities as well as an update from Supreme. There were other Brother Knights throughout the State and that we had an opportunity to meet and have a brief chat as well. As usual BK Frank, BK Bruce and BK Bill and Mary Bensel knocked it out of the park again with their lunch. Chicken tenders, salad, and a tasty corn casserole that received numerous compliments was served. The next State Meeting will be on Saturday, July 13th, 2024.

Looking ahead, the next Breakfast will be held on Sunday, February 4th, 2024 and it will benefit the Flame of Love Ministry. Finally, Lent is closing upon us and the first Lenten Fish Fry Dinner will be on February 16th, 2024. The Lenten Fish Fry’s is our Council’s biggest fundraiser. The funds that we raise will help support Council operations and other charitable endeavors that we support or might encounter during the year. The Fish Fry’s are an excellent opportunity for Knights who aren’t too active to start getting involved and become more connected to the St. John Neumann Parish Community. We also welcome non-Knights to help out during the Fish Fry dinners too. The Lenten season is a perfect time to get involved to help and renew your commitment to the Church and the Parish Community. May God bless you all.

That concludes my report for January.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers

Lecturer's Reflection
Our Mission Statement

It is useful to periodically re-examine and refresh our Knights of Columbus Mission Statement:

“We are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith. There is much work to be done in this world. Good work. Necessary work. And that’s what the Knights do. Every day.

Assisting the sick and disabled. Protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Whether they are next door or halfway around the world. This is the journey we are on our path.

We do it to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and Catholics. We invest our time, our efforts and our resources into our values. Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism.

We come from many places. And backgrounds. And stages in our lives. But we are all of one faith. A fraternity of men striving to better ourselves and our world.

It’s one thing to say who you are. IT’S ANOTHER TO LIVE IT. (emphasis added). To put your values into action. That’s what we do at the Knights of Columbus.
That’s who we are.”
