Worthy Brother Knights,
Hard to believe it’s May already! Lent is over, and we’re into Easter Season.
Well, our Fish Frys were a fantastic success! We exceeded our budgeted profit for the six events despite our freezer malfunction and more startup supplies to buy this year after COVID. A very big thank you to all who helped out each week and those who supported by coming in for dinner or take-out.
The April Family Breakfast was held for the benefit of Father Rico’s ministry Shepherds of the Meek aiding children, and we donated $775 to the ministry.
Our Knight of the Month for April was Todd Eaton. In addition to putting our Newsletter together, Todd works at every Family Breakfast and Fish Fry. The work isn’t done until the dishes are all done and the hall is clean, and Todd is always there till the end working the clean-up crew.
Our Family of the Month was Don and Karen Detar. Don and Karen, this month as often in the past, were a big help at the Fish Frys and breakfast. Thank you both.
The sacrament of Confirmation was conferred on 53 SJN Life Teens on April 23, and Commander Woody Lott and five other 7923 Knights formed the Honor Guard for Auxiliary Bishop Schlesinger.
Our April Knights’ Mass on the 24th was the best attended I’ve seen in my time as GK. I really appreciate those Brothers who changed from their regular Mass time or regular pew to sit together as a group. I think it very good for us to show our unity as Knights by worshiping together.
The last big April event was the 10th annual S.M.I.L.E. run on Saturday, April 30, at Lilburn Park.

This year’s run was dedicated to the memory of our beloved Brother PGK Houston Feaster who was a tremendous supporter of S.M.I.L.E., and once said he would never stop helping out with the run. It was fitting then, that this year Knights from 7923 took up many of the supporting tasks that Houston did, bringing tables, water, the PA system, ice chests, defibrillator, and being race workers. I’m sure everyone who helped out would say they thoroughly enjoyed the day and the warm feeling it gave them.
These last two months of the Fraternal Year are going to be pretty busy ones. By the time you read this we will have had our May Family Breakfast to benefit the SJN Grounds Beautification Ministry. The 120th Annual Georgia State KofC Convention will be held at Jekyll Island May 13-15. Primary Delegates for 7923 are GK Glenn Klein and PGK Mark Dallas. Lastly, in May we are planning an Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity on May 21.
In June we will finally have the formal dedication renaming our hall the Houston Feaster Center on Saturday the 4th. The Feaster family will be there and all Brothers are invited. We will have the Pilgrim Program Icon in honor of St, Joseph here at SJN Parish June 5 & 6, and we are planning a prayer service for Sunday night June 5. We are also planning a Thanksgiving in June dinner for Saturday June 18.
Hopefully most of you will be able to participate in all or some of these events. Your support is what makes 7923 a great Council.
Vivat Jesus,
Glenn Klein

Lecturer's Reflections
David Werve read an excerpt from “Saint Catherine of Siena” about temptation and how it can strengthen and make you more virtuous. Please read the excerpt below.
“[St. Catherine of Siena reports that Our Lord said to her “I’ve appointed the Devil to tempt and to trouble my creatures in this life]. I’ve done this, not so that my creatures will be overcome, but so that they may overcome, proving their virtue and receiving from me the glory of victory. And no one should fear any battle or temptation of the Devil that may come to him, because I’ve made my creatures strong, and I’ve given them strength of will, fortified in the Blood of My Son. Neither the Devil nor any other creature can control this free will, because it’s yours, given to you by me. By your own choice, then, you hold it or let it go if you please. It’s a weapon, and if you place it in the hands of the Devil, it right away becomes a knife that he’ll use to stab and kill you. On the other hand, if you don’t place this knife - that is your will- into the hands of the Devil—that is, if you don’t consent to his temptations and harassments—you will never be injured by the guilt of sin in any temptation. Instead, you will actually be strengthened by the temptation, as long as you open the eyes of your mind to see my love, and to understand why I allowed you to be tempted: so you could develop virtue by having it proved. My love permits these temptations, for the Devil is weak. He can do nothing by himself unless I allow him. So I let him tempt you because I love you, not because I hate you; because I want you to conquer, not to be conquered, and to come to a perfect knowledge of yourself and of me.”
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.”
