Grand Knight's Report

Brother Knights,

May 2026 may be gone but not forgotten. Let’s check out some of the highlights from May. First, on Saturday, May 3rd, the Knights of Columbus hosted a breakfast that benefitted the “Marriage & Family Life” Ministry. Turnout was rather light; however, it still ended up being another successful endeavor. I want to thank all the Brother Knights for coming out to help to ensure that this breakfast was successful.

On Monday, May 11th we held our membership meeting. We nominated Officers for the 2026-2027 Fraternal Year, and we voted to table the 2026-2027 Fraternal Year Budget. The official voting of the Officers and the Budget will take place at our next membership meeting on Monday, June 8th, 2026. Our Honor Guard was active in the month of May. First, on Wednesday, May 13th, four Honor Guard members celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. It was a beautiful ceremony and many of the Parishioners in attendance were curious about the swords that we carry and they asked to take pictures with us as well. Then on Saturday, May 30th, four Honor Guard members celebrated newly ordained Priest Father Sean Lee’s first Mass. It was another beautiful Mass followed by a lively reception in Reynolds Hall.

On May 14th to May 17th the Knights of Columbus held their Georgia State Convention in Savannah, GA. All the Councils in the State reported their activities and voted on numerous resolutions. As far as resolution go, there wasn’t a significant one and the convention was business as usual. Looking ahead, the next Family Breakfast will be on Sunday, June 7th, and it will benefit the “Walking with Moms in Need” Ministry. Then on June 8th, we will have our membership meeting and that will be it for the 2025-2026 Fraternal Year which ends on June 30th. Brother Knights, we will have plenty of activities in the next Fraternal Year and if you know someone in our Parish Community who is not a Knight please consider asking him if he would like to be part of the Knights of Columbus. We are always looking for Brother Knights to grow our Council so we can be of greater service to the SJN Parish Community. May God Bless you All!

That concludes my report.

Vivat Jesus,

GK Brian Jeffers

Note on Pennies for Heaven

Pennies For Heaven is a Program of the Georgia State Council which supports both the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers and the Benedicitine Priory in Savannah. Our Council has supported the Monks in Conyers for over 15 years.

Both of these Catholic institutions are a vital part of our Catholic community here in Georgia. Our support can help insure that they continue.

Council 7923 sends an annual donation which is funded by collecting spare change or bills during the business meeting, as well as the revitalized 50/50 drawing which will commence at the start of our new fraternal year.

2026-2027 Budget

The following budget has been proposed for the 2026-2027 Fraternal Year.

The Knights of Columbus does not require the Council to Budget. We Budget to avoid having to vote on every expenditure during the fraternal year.

The Budget does not have to balance, unlike a public business with share holders. We have money in an investment account to cover any shortages.

We want to be as close to reality as possible, but income is not a guarantee, it’s an estimate.

Per By Laws, the Worthy Grand Knight has the ability to spend up to $500 on any given expense/charity
