Grand Knight’s Report
Worthy Brother Knights,

Hard to believe August is over. It was a good month, because we were able to hold our membership meeting on August 10th for the first time since March. It was great seeing everybody that came. In addition, on Wednesday August 19th, we held our Council Installation of Officers for the 2020-2021 Fraternal Year. Unfortunately this years was a bit subdued, due to ongoing COVID issues, we only had the officers attending a very quick ceremony with no reception after.

Our upcoming carry out turkey dinner, taking place on Saturday September 19th continues to have more online orders coming in. As of August 25th, we had 58 orders sold, equating to more than $500 in sales. Hopefully we can double that before the 19th. Please keep in mind Frank and Dominick will be looking for help in the kitchen with cooking, and packaging the dinners. We will discuss other options for meals in the upcoming months at our next meeting.
Right now, I do NOT plan to have an officer's meeting on Monday September 7th with it being Labor Day weekend. We will catch up on business at our next membership meeting on Monday September 14th. Hope to see many of you there. Keep in mind we will still be social distancing and everyone will be required to wear a mask.

Let's keep praying for the health and safety for each other and our families during these trying times. Also continue to pray for Father Sunny’s continued recovery.

Vivat Jesus,

Mark Dallas

Program Director Highlights
There are many opportunities for service at the Sisters of the Visitation convent in Snellville with numerous facility and groundskeeping projects needing help. The DGK will put together a list and description of the projects and provide that along with a point of contact for the convent so that Knights can select projects and find out when they can come to offer service. We have done service work there in the past, and with 27 acres and large building there is virtually a continuous list of projects needing attention.
Good of the Order
PGK Houston Feaster related a story of a healthy 50 year-old, BK Kevin Lacour, that recently got Covid and had a fairly rough time with it. The point of the PGK’s story was do not underestimate the seriousness of the disease.

50/50 and Attendance award
  • PGK Houston Feaster won $10 in this month's 50/50 and donated it to the Peterka Fund.
  • BK Larry Addison's name was selected for this month's attendance award but was not present to win. Next meeting's award is $50.
 Recognizing Knights
  • GK Mark Dallas announced that BK Ken Fehner was selected as Knight of the Year 2019.

  • GK Mark Dallas also presented a plaque to PGK Mike MacFarlane honoring his service as 7923 Grand Knight for 2019-2020 fraternal year.
Prayers for Knights in Need

Please pray for the following Knights in need (list from the last meeting):

  • All BK’s - For all our military and first responders who keep us safe every day.
  • Mark Dallas – For brother-in-law Mike Fain battling brain cancer.
  • Larry Hoffman – For his niece, cancer.
  • Larry Hoffman – For his son, recovering from having five stints installed.
  • John Mangano – Friend Beth Silver, cancer.
  • Frank Swider – For daughter Eileen, blood disorder.
  • Frank Swider – For son Frank Jr. recovering from heart surgery.
New Business

  • The State sent 7923 a new seminarian to support, Chrystian Bis. He is currently at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida.
  • 7923 is currently scheduled to host the next State meeting January 9, 2021. Reynolds Hall has been reserved for that date.
  • PGK Steve Brischler reported that he has received the new wireless thermostats for the refrigerator/freezers in Reynolds Hall, and he will give them to whoever is going to do the install. The new thermostats will send a text alert to a designated person if the temperature goes out of spec. There recently was a cooling failure in the freezer in Reynolds Hall. Since the kitchen has not been in regular use because of Covid, no one saw the failure when it occurred, and we lost about $1,000 worth of food.
  • There is a new flag pole outside our building that was put up during an Eagle project. BK Todd Eaton initially paid for the pole; and the GK will talk with the Faithful Navigator about the possibility of the Knights and/or Fourth Degree contributing to that cost.
