Grand Knight's Report

Brother Knights,

April 2026 is over but let’s go back in time and revisit. First, on Saturday, April 11th, St. John Neumann held their Confirmation Mass and there were 4 Honor Guard participants and we welcomed in Bishop Bernard Shlesinger. Bishop Shlesinger confirmed over 100 Confirmation Candidates from St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Congratulations Confirmation Candidates and thank you SK Woody, SK Alex, and SK Angel for your Honor Guard participation Then on Sunday, April 12th, the Knights of Columbus hosted our first breakfast since January 2026. The breakfast benefitted the “Flame of Love” Ministry. It was another successful endeavor. I want to thank all the Brother Knights and the “Flame of Love” Ministry for coming out to help to ensure that this breakfast was successful.

On Monday, April 13th we held our membership meeting, it was another standard meeting as there weren’t any outstanding business items to take care of. However, before the meeting we welcomed three new Brother Knights: Dagmawi Hailemariam, Andrew Sheldon and John Odili. We held an exemplification ceremony for them, and we are glad to have them as Brother Knights. Welcome aboard BK Dagmawi, BK Andrew, and BK John. On Saturday, April 25th, the Knights grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for the “Life is Beautiful Health Fair” event at St. John Neumann. Turnout was on the light, but we served over 50 hamburgers and hot dogs that afternoon. Thank you to all the Brother Knights who came out to help that day.

Looking ahead, the Knights next Family Breakfast will be on Sunday, May 3rd, and it will benefit the “Marriage Family Life” Ministry. Then on May 14th to May 17th the Knights of Columbus will have their State Convention in Savannah, GA. There all the Councils in the State will report their activities to the State and vote on resolutions that affect all the KofC Councils in the State of Georgia. We also have elections coming up soon. If you would like to be an Officer, please let me know or attend the next meeting on May 11th. Brother Knights we have plenty of activities throughout the year to serve the SJN Parish Community, like our Sunday Breakfast and other special requests that come from our Church. So, please consider helping with those activities even if it’s just for one or two hours. May God Bless you All!

That concludes my report.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers

Lecturers Report

BK David Werve read a passage on The Last Four Things Catholics believe in.

The last four things are death, judgment, heaven and hell.

Death is the separation of man's mortal body and immortal soul. It comes to all men as a result of original sin. It is a temporary state, for at the end of the world, all men shall rise again to be judged by Christ. Thus the whole man, body and soul, will be rewarded for the good or evil that he has done, body and soul, in this life.

At the moment of death, each human person is judged by God based on his conduct in this life, and goes immediately to his reward or punishment. Moreover, at the end of the world, Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. At that time, God's whole plan for the world shall be revealed, and his mercy and justice demonstrated.

Heaven is the eternal state of perfect happiness resulting from the face to face vision of God, which is the reward of those who have served Him in this life.

Hell is the eternal state of torment and despair which awaits those who, in this life, have freely rejected God and the happiness which He offers.

Before the end of the world, there will be an intermediate state called purgatory. There, those who are bound for heaven, but whose love for God is still marred by some imperfection, undergo a temporary period of purifying suffering. When this purification is complete, they are fit to enter God's presence and are admitted to the joys of heaven.
