Grand Knight's Report

Dear Brother Knights,

September 2024 is now in the books and here are some of the highlights. On Sunday, September 8th we had our Sunday breakfast and it benefitted the Special Needs Ministry. It was one of the most successful breakfasts in a few months. Next month’s breakfast will be on Sunday, October 13th and it will benefit the Respect Life Ministry.

On Monday, September 16th, we held our membership meeting. BK Frank Swider bought some Italian sub sandwiches from Publix that we all enjoyed. This was the third meeting of the Fraternal Year and there were still no tabled or passed motions. After the meeting, our Council held the Officer’s Installation Ceremony. I want to thank BK Jose Sandoval Lermont for stepping up to be the new Deputy Grand Knight and I especially want to thank all the past Officers for their service and the Officers who decided to continue their service.

On Saturday, September 21st, St. John Neumann hosted their annual Parish Festival. It was a fun-filled event. The Knights served hamburgers and hot dogs. There was also international food at the festival courtesy of the Hispanic, Philippine and Ethiopian Ministries. There was arts & crafts, a bouncy house, a petting zoo, and pony rides were available there too. The following day on Sunday, September 22nd at 10:15 am the Knights of Columbus hosted “Latin Rosary.” Thank you, BK Jose, for starting and leading the “Latin Rosary” service. The next “Latin Rosary” service will be on October 27th at 10:15 am. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s organization and while we help the SJN Parish Community tremendously there are opportunities to grow your faith with us as well. For example, we hold Rosary services before our meetings, we also have a spiritual message during our meeting and a monthly Knight’s Mass. We also have the aforementioned “Latin Rosary” service. Brother Knights if you are looking to grow your faith then look no further than Council 7923. We have opportunities right here.

May God Bless you All!

That concludes my report.

Vivat Iesu,

GK Brian Jeffers

Lecturer's Report

Today's Meditation

Even if you do not confess, God is not ignorant of the deed, since he knew it before it was committed. Why then do you not speak of it? Does the transgression become heavier by the confession? No, it becomes lighter and less troublesome. And this is why he wants you to confess: not that you should be punished, but that you should be forgiven; not that he may learn your sin—how could that be, since he has seen it?—but that you may learn what favor he bestows. He wishes you to learn the greatness of his grace, so that you may praise him perfectly, that you may be slower to sin, that you may be quicker to virtue. And if you do not confess the greatness of the need, you will not understand the enormous magnitude of his grace. —St. John Chrysostom, p. 255
