During this unprecedented time. your national Council wishes to express our solidarity with fellow Equity members across the country and to our colleagues internationally.

As we all grapple with the spread of COVID-19 and the corresponding production and contract interruption and cancellations, I urge members to look after themselves and their health and continue to take reasonable precautions as necessary.

TEXT OF SCOTT'S MESSAGE:
Hi, I'm Scott Bellis, Council President of Equity. The National Council wishes to express solidarity with our members across the country and our colleagues internationally. We know that behind the headlines, there is a human cost to how COVID-19 has affected our industry; the cancelled productions and contracts mount, and behind each and every one there is an Equity member who is affected emotionally, physically, financially and mentally.  These are unprecedented times that affect Equity staff, Council, and members alike.

Equity is planning a Zoom member-only meeting to discuss your questions about the COVID-19 situation with Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan and others on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (ET). Details are still being worked out. Please check www.caea.com tomorrow, March 16, for more information.

You may sometimes have seen the online hashtag #EquityStrong , usually used in discussion around labour issues, but now more than ever we need united strength. From yesterday’s informative primer by our communications staff, to Councillors going above and beyond to support members, to our ED Arden and the Business Reps taking your calls, and the members themselves, #Equity Strong means that we are looking out for each other when we need it. If you have questions, concerns, or needs, please know that Equity is here for you.

Please note: Only Equity members in good standing may attend. Members must login to Equity’s website and register for the webinar (its easy!) in order to attend the meeting
