Council District 7 Newsletter
August 10, 2018 - In This Issue:
Dear Friends and Neighbors

I hope you all are enjoying your summer. It was another busy month for my office.

I want to thank you all for joining me in celebrating National Night Out in District 7 this past Tuesday. This year, we had 12 neighborhood groups participate in this annual event, aimed to build strong partnerships between communities members, local law enforcement, and other agencies that make our district a safer and better place. It allowed me the opportunity to reconnect with many of you and a chance to work with new residents to host National Night Out socials for the first time. I want to thank all the community partners, the San Jose Police Department, and the Crime Prevention Unit for making this a great night. Most importantly, I want to thank our neighborhood leaders for working with my office to have these gatherings throughout the district that attracted over 1,000 residents. If you want to see pictures from National Night Out, make sure to visit the District 7 website.

This Saturday, August 11, I will be hosting a dumpster day in the Seven Trees neighborhood. This is an effort to continue to address illegal dumping in our streets. As a reminder, if you have any large items (such as mattresses, sofas, refrigerators, tires)  that you would like to get rid of you can schedule FREE pick-ups by contacting your recycling collection company. Thank you in advance for helping to keep San Jose clean and safe!

Join me for a fun Summer Festival at the Vietnamese-American Center, 2072 Lucretia Ave, on Saturday, August 11th, from 2pm - 8pm. This is a FREE community event that will have live performances, games, jumping house, a resource fair and much more for the entire family to enjoy. Parking will be available at Yerba Buena High School. Hope to see you there!

Lastly, join me as we unveil a new crosswalk  in district at the corner of Alma and Sanborn Ave on Saturday, August 18 at 12:30pm. Joining me will be Councilmember Raul Peralez, the Department of Transportation, and the San Jose Police Department. The new enhanced crosswalk features three pedestrian hybrid beacon lights and a pedestrian safety island to ensure higher-visibility and pedestrian safety. Hope you can join me as we celebrate this new addition in the district. For more information, please contact my office at  (408) 535-4907 .

I f you have any questions, concerns or suggestions on how we can improve our community, feel free to contact me at  (408) 535-4907  or email me at  district7@sanjoseca.gov.

Sincerely,
