OLLI at SOU Council Director Ballots Due May 20

If you haven't completed your ballot for the OLLI at SOU Council Director election and proposed changes to the OLLI at SOU Bylaws yet, please be sure to submit it by Wednesday, May 20, 5 p.m., PT.


This year we have four candidates for the three open seats: Anne Hartridge, Susan Plass, Kevin Talbert and Jacque Walawander. Read the candidates' biographies to learn more about them. If you missed the Council Candidate Forum, watch the recording on the OLLI at SOU YouTube channel.


Members with individual email accounts were emailed a unique link to your personal ballot on May 12 (subject line: “Official Ballot 2026 OLLI Council Election”). Those who share an email with another member or do not have an email address were sent a paper ballot in the mail. Fall 2026 Course Proposals Accepted May 1-31

Two weeks left to submit your Fall 2026 Course Proposal Form! Our instructors are the heartbeat of the OLLI at SOU community. Share your knowledge, hobbies and stories with our nearly 2,000 members at the eighth largest OLLI in the country. OLLI at SOU members are asking for more courses in STEM, art and literature.


No formal teaching experience needed, the OLLI at SOU team will support you every step of the way. No tests, no grading, just the joy of learning together.

Important Updates to the Fall Course Proposal Form:

  • Evergreen Instructor Biographies: Instructors will be asked to submit one general biography statement each academic year that will be used for all courses they plan to teach.
  • Efforts to Streamline: Instructors who have 1) taught before and 2) are offering a course that has been approved before will be able to bypass certain areas of the form.

OLLI at SOU is excited to announce our newest travel trip in collaboration with RogueTrotter. On Monday, June 8, step into the living history of Jacksonville with renowned local historian and author Larry Smith on an immersive journey through the landscapes that shaped Southern Oregon. Zentangle Shared Interest Group (SIG)

Join the OLLI at SOU Zentangle SIG on Friday, May 22, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the SOU Campbell Center, Room A. Designed for those already familiar with the Zentangle Method, this group offers a space to share techniques, inspiration and the joy of drawing tangles together. Learn more and register.

Online Book Club Shared Interest Group (SIG)

Join the OLLI Online Book Club on Monday, June 1, 5-7 p.m. PT, via Zoom, to discuss No Paintings, No Sculpture by John Frohnmayer. Bring your thoughts, ideas, and opinions for a lively discussion with fellow readers and the author himself! Learn more and register.
