Dear Neighbor,

It is an honor to serve you as your Council Member. For over a year now, we have been confronted with unprecedented challenges, but together, we continue to surpass expectations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us that it takes the whole community to get through difficult times. Let’s continue to stay alert, encourage those who are unvaccinated to get their vaccine, wear our masks wherever they are required, and conduct our activities outdoors as much as we can!

Our office has continued to organize outdoor activities so that we bring our community together, all while staying safe. We have done community clean-ups, movie nights, food giveaways, and Neighborhood Office Hours, and I can’t wait to do more! While there is no better moment than when I am interacting with those who I serve right here in the North Bronx, I am also at City Hall fighting for each and every one of you.

Our last stated Council meeting was a great victory for working families in the Bronx and across our city. We passed legislation that guards our small business restaurants from being taken advantage of by third-party apps, and essential human service workers were provided with protections so that they are able to organize without fear of retaliation. As we emerge from the pandemic, we must put in place all the necessary policies so that nobody is left behind.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach my office at 718-549-7300 or email us at dinowitz@council.nyc.gov.

Sincerely,

Council Member Eric Dinowitz

NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICE HOURS

Our next Neighborhood Hours will be in partnership with the

OATH can provide you with legal information and resources to help you prepare for a case involving summonses. They can provide you with information about the hearing process, options available to you, and answer questions that you may have. If this sounds like something you need help with, come see us!

Our work with constituents

This past month, I was outraged to learn that a District 75 school in our district was being sent frozen and rotten food for the Summer Meals Program. This was completely unacceptable, particularly as these are some of our most vulnerable children. I immediately demanded the city rectify the situation, and the school is now receiving fresh, hot food. Our children must be afforded every opportunity to succeed and be treated with the dignity they deserve. Nothing but happy tummies since then!

If you have any issues regarding a service from any city agency or department, reach out to our office at 718-549-7300 or dinowitz@council.nyc.gov and we will work with them to address it.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UPS

Last Saturday, our office partnered with Wakefield4Change, Senator Jamaal Bailey, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, and community organizations from Wakefield to beautify White Plains Road. The dedication and hard work of all those who joined truly made a difference in the community.

If you want to host a clean-up in the district, reach out to our office and let’s make it happen, together!

Here's another upcoming cleanups. Let’s work together to beautify our neighborhood!

While there are two good options, it is extremely problematic that these are the only two in Council District 11. I am working to bring more vaccination sites to the district.

If we truly want to move on from the pandemic, then we must do it in a manner that is equitable and accessible for everybody. No one should be left behind!

BUDGET ALLOCATIONS

After securing $15 million of funding for capital projects in our district, and providing hundreds of thousands of dollars to organizations that provide services to our communities...

MORE IS COMING TO DISTRICT 11!

Through the budget, we were able to bring back essential services that keep our neighborhood clean, like Sunday litter basket service.

Our office is also allocating over $250,000 for additional clean-up services in the district. This includes graffiti clean-ups and additional litter pick-ups. If there is any location that needs to be cleaned up,

call our office at 718-549-7300 or email us at dinowitz@council.nyc.gov.

50TH PRECINCT: BUILD THE BLOCK

Be part of the conversation!

Join the 50th Precinct’s Build the Block meeting on August 4, from 5:30PM-6:30PM at the Riverdale Temple, located at 4545 Independence Avenue. This is a great way to have a conversation with your Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCOs) and to make sure that your issues are heard.

What are NCOs?

"The NCOs serve as liaisons between the police and the community, but also as key crime-fighters and problem-solvers in the sector.

They function as adjuncts to the local detective squads, responding swiftly to breaking incidents and developing leads and evidence that might have been missed under the old patrol model. "
