The Pathway to Adventure Council requires all persons attending Scouting events, activities, or meetings to adhere to the City of Chicago’s “Protecting Chicago” Reopening Framework. As a part of the framework, the City recently issued a Stay-At-Home Advisory, which goes into effect on Monday, November 16, 2020.

The Stay-At-Home Advisory is currently set for 30 days meaning that it will end on December 16, 2020, OR until such time as the Commissioner of Health determines a change to the guidance is appropriate.

As a result of the Stay-At-Home Advisory, the Pathway to Adventure Council Service Centers in Arlington Heights, Chicago, La Grange, Munster will remain open, BUT you must make an appointment with a staff member before arriving. Contact information for all staff members can be found here.

Under the Stay-At-Home Advisory, the City is urging people to:
  • Only leave home to go to work or school, or for essential needs like trips to a grocery store, pharmacy or restaurant for pickup.
  • Practice social distancing by staying 6 feet away from others and wearing a face covering at all times.
  • Not hold any gatherings at home with anyone outside their household, “even with trusted family or friends;” use remote communication for the holidays.
  • Avoid all non-essential and out-of-state travel, following the travel guidelines if travel is necessary.
  • Limit meetings and social events to 10 people or less for any gatherings held indoors or outdoors. This applies to events like weddings, birthday parties, social events, and funerals, and is applicable to any meeting room space. The capacity limits do not apply to workplaces or places that have specific guidelines in place, including shops, salons, and movie theaters.

In addition to the services centers being open for appointments only, the Pathway to Adventure Council will be implementing the following measures:
  • All Scouting activities, meetings, or events should be limited to 10 people or less, regardless of if the event is indoors or outdoors.
  • The Arlington Heights, Chicago, and La Grange Scout Shops will remain open without appointments. The Munster Scout Shop will be open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm but appointments are strong encouraged. We also encourage placing orders in advance via email.

If attending a Scouting event, meeting, or activity, everyone must:
  • Practice social distancing and wear a face mask, except during physical activity.* Physical activity includes free play, games, sports, transportation (walking, cycling, hiking), and recreation.
  • Youth protection guidelines must still be followed.
  • Clean frequently-touched surfaces after each use.
  • Stay home if they feel ill or have come into contact with someone with COVID-19.
*Children under 2 years old and those with health conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask are exempt from this precaution.

If you are visiting a city, state, or area with stricter COVID-19 guidelines, you must follow the stricter guidelines.
