COA is currently hiring experienced licensed social workers for Care Manager and Assessor positions in several of our programs, working with older adults to help them remain independent in their homes.
We are also seeking two problem solvers with the right experience and/or education to work as Senior Help Desk Specialists in our Innovation and Technology division.

MidPointe libraries and COA expand congregate meal locations
Earlier this year, Butler County's MidPointe Library System, in partnership with COA, served its first congregate meal to older adults at its West Chester location. Fast forward a few months, and congregate meals are now also offered at MidPointe's Trenton and Monroe branch locations. Read more.

HEAP summer program accepting applications
The 2023 HEAP Summer Crisis Program kicked off July 1 and will accept applications through September 30. Eligible Ohioans can receive assistance paying an electric bill or paying for central air conditioning repairs through the program. Learn how to qualify and apply here.

COA scores national awards at USAging conference
At the USAging national conference in Salt Lake City in July, COA staff accepted two national awards:
- COA’s COVID-19 Homebound Vaccination Program for vulnerable older adults received a 2023 USAging Achievement Award. Read more.

COA selected as AARP Community Challenge Grantee
home52 Transportation, a service of Council on Aging subsidiary home52, has received a 2023 AARP Community Challenge Grant. Funds from the grant will help older adults and people with disabilities access a portal to schedule their own rides, putting them more in control of their comings and goings. Read more.

COA's Outreach Bureau is a service available to area businesses and organizations to provide education through speaking engagements and information tables at events. The 2023 USDA Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program is going strong. The program provides $50 in free coupons to redeem at local farmers' markets for fresh, nutritious, unprepared locally grown fruits and vegetables. Coupons are good through October 31. Learn to better manage your health
Council on Aging offers a variety of health and wellness workshops designed with older adults and caregivers in mind - and they're all free! Workshops focus on:
- Chronic disease, chronic pain and diabetes self-management
- Falls prevention
- Care for the caregiver

Falls are not a normal part of aging
The risk of falling, and fall-related injuries, rises with age. In fact, according to the National Council on Aging, more than one in four adults age 65+ fall each year. Wilmington resident feels secure thanks to COA

COA service project helps hundreds of older adults
COA staff recently collected personal care items for older adults and delivered them to three senior apartment buildings and a senior center. Thanks to donations from our staff, Matthew 25 Ministries and Optimal Family Dental, we were able to deliver more than 200 product-filled gift bags to older adults who might not otherwise be able to afford some of the items!
