Council on Aging's popular Forum on Aging conference will take place March 5-6 at the Sharonville Convention Center. This conference is one of the most anticipated in our region! Social workers, nurses, nursing home administrators and activity professionals can earn up to 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the conference. Registration will open in early January and complete information will be on our website.

COA advocacy efforts result in important 'wins' for constituents

One of the important and invaluable functions of Council on Aging (COA) in its efforts to serve older adults, caregivers and those with disabilities in southwestern Ohio is to advocate on their behalf. For example, in the past year, COA has successfully advocated for an increase in the hourly rate paid to home health aides. Click here to read more.

Older adults can be prime targets for cybercriminals. This month, we're partnering with Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers to share information that may help protect you or someone you know from becoming a victim of cybercrime and scams. Learn more and connect to resources here.

Council on Aging Board of Trustees Spotlight: Leonard Wagers

Leonard G. Wagers, of Butler County, first joined COA’s Board of Trustees in February 2018 as a member of the board’s audit sub-committee. He became a regular member of the board in 2019. As chief financial officer at Woodhull LLC, Wagers brings extensive financial expertise to COA’s board where he serves on the board’s finance and executive committees, as well as the board’s treasurer. Home Health Aide Hero Awards: nominations now open

Council on Aging is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Home Health Aide Hero Awards. In recognizing these hardworking individuals, we aim to show our appreciation for their tireless efforts in helping older adults remain independent in their homes and communities. Winners will be honored at Council on Aging's 2024 Forum on Aging and Annual Meeting. COA News and Recognition

COA and Live Well receive national recognition for innovative changes to local meal programs


Council on Aging and the Live Well Collaborative recently received a first place 2023 dmi:Design Value Award from the Design Management Institute (DMI) for work on a project that sought to redesign the way meal programs are delivered to older adults through select Council on Aging programs. Hamilton County's 513Relief Bus takes COA into the community

COA is southwestern Ohio’s “front door” for information related to aging and aging services, assisting most individuals by phone or electronically. Social Security announces 3.2 percent benefit increase

for 2024

The 3.2 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits payable to more than 66 million Social Security beneficiaries. Recipients may receive increases as soon as December 29, 2023. Click here to read more.

It's time for Medicare Open Enrollment

Knowing the ins and outs of Medicare and choosing a plan that works for you can be daunting! The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) has trained volunteer staff to help you navigate the enrollment process and plan selection. They can be contacted at 800-686-1578.

COA is looking for qualified contractors

Council on Aging is seeking to contract with qualified individuals or agencies to provide Environmental Services including major housecleaning, pest control and waste removal for clients in Butler, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties.


Environmental Services restore a client's home to a safe and healthy living environment by removing hazards which may pose a health threat. To learn more about this opportunity, click here to complete a short interest form. You will be contacted by a member of our Provider Services team.

The National Council on Aging recently observed National Estate Planning Awareness Week, an annual reminder of the value of a will or estate plan.


The National Council on Aging has partnered with FreeWill to provide a free, online tool to help most older Americans create a legally binding will at no cost.
