Welcome to the beautiful month of December, filled with many Christmas events and activities around Flamborough. The Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skate Loop is officially open for free skating - if you are new to Waterdown / Flamborough please visit the Ice Loop at Waterdown Memorial Park on Hamilton Street across from Fortino's plaza. Bring the family for my Annual New Year Levee at Waterdown Memorial Park to skate the loop and ring in the new year together on Wednesday January 1, 2020, 1-3pm with FREE hot dogs, hot cider and hot chocolate provided by the Carlisle Optimists. There will also be FREE family skates at Carlisle Arena (Friday December 27, 2-4pm) and Harry Howell Arena (Monday December 30, 2-4pm) - see you there !

Memorial Service for National Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women

When: Friday December 6, 2019

Time: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Where: Honouring the Circle, 21 Rosedene Avenue, Hamilton

Interval House of Hamilton will be commemorating the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women by holding a memorial service that will be held at Honouring the Circle. As part of the memorial, there will be a candle-lighting service honouring the 14 women whose lives ended in an act of gender-based violence on December 6, 1989 at L’Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. A 15th candle will be lit commemorating Canada’s missing and murdered First Nations, Metis and Inuit women, girls and two-spirited people. Millgrove Breakfast with Santa

Join Councillor Partridge for a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday December 7 at Millgrove Community Centre hosted by the Kin Club of Flamborough (and District). Doors open at 9:00am, breakfast served (buffet style) at 9:30am. Donations of a non-perishable food item would be greatly appreciated! Christmas at Westfield Heritage Village

Winter Sleigh Rides at Mountsberg Conservation Area

Don’t let winter keep you inside! At Mountsberg Conservation Area, you are invited on a horse-drawn ride through a winter wonderland. Arrive at a roaring bonfire rosy-cheeked and ready for a tasty marshmallow roast- a perfect way to get outside and enjoy winter with friends and family! Make a day of it by picking up a hot chocolate in the gift shop and then visiting with the park’s resident birds of prey and farm animals, followed by a trip to the play barn. A day spent outside in the crisp winter air and everyone will head home ready for a long winter’s nap. Family New Year's Eve at Mountsberg Conservation Area

Say Goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020 surrounded by the great outdoors! Mountsberg Conservation Area takes this family-focused New Year’s Eve party outside and enjoy all the beauty a crisp winter’s eve has to offer. A roaring bonfire with marshmallow’s and hot chocolate will help make sure everyone stays toasty and warm. Families will love the live music, play barn, farm animals, food and snacks and kids crafts! Please join Councillor Partridge at the next meeting of the Flamborough-Waterdown Chapter of 100 Women Who Care program. This program brings together 100 (or more) women in Flamborough-Waterdown who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. At the meetings, women meet for an hour and jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Everyone each writes a $100 cheque to the selected organization and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation. Do that four times a year and witness how $40,000 can improve the lives of our neighbours. For more information, please click here
