Welcome to the March edition of ENEWS. As you know , Council has been heav ily into budgets since last November, currently sitting at a 3.1% increase h owever we have said very clearly that it needs to be closer to 2.5%. To date , C ouncil has found more than 35-40 mill ion in saving s to bring down the budget. In addition to Budget meetings, February was also busy with Committee Meetings, the grand opening of Waterdown's Stacked restaurant, a Transit Roundtable event and more. There are many important updates to share with you this month, including a Let's Talk Bullying Community Session, COVID-19 update from Hamilton Paramedic Service, free income tax clinic and more. Please join me for my Community Clean Up on Saturday March 28, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Waterdown Memorial Park - cleaning equipment and garbage pickup at the park provided. Everyone is invited!

Connon's Indoor Winter Farmers' Market

When : Saturday Mornings Until March 21, 2020

Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Where: Connon Nurseries, 656 Robson Road, Waterdown

What’s better than shopping local and supporting local farmers and small businesses? Being able to do so in the cold months of winter! Connon Nurseries is hosting an Indoor Winter Farmers' Market in their beautiful, warm Atrium in Waterdown with some amazing local farmers and food makers. Mountsberg’s Maple Town Festival

When : Open March Break and Weekends Until April 5, 2020

Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Where: Mountsberg Conservation Area, 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellville

Mountsberg Conservation Area welcomes visitors to the working sugar bush at Maple Town presenting Sweet Water Season, a celebration of the Indigenous heritage of maple sugaring. The park will tap about 400 trees this spring and the watery sap will be magically transformed into sweet maple syrup in the Sugar Shanty. Maple Town is free with  regular gate admission or a  Halton Parks Membership, and runs until April 5, 2020 on weekends and March Break from 10am - 4pm each day. Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum Traveling Exhibit: "Health in Space: Daring to Explore"

When : Open until Monday May 11, 2020

Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, 9280 Airport Rd, Mount Hope

Health in Space is a traveling exhibition developed by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency. It explores how gravity, radiation, and isolation all pose unique health challenges for astronauts living and working in space. Highlights include authentic artifacts, interactive experiences, and video interviews with Canadian astronauts. A featured section within the exhibition profiles David Saint-Jacques, a Canadian astronaut and medical doctor, and his mission to the International Space Station. To learn more, please click here.

Free Session for Seniors: Nutrition Myths and Facts for Healthy Aging

Maple Syrup Festival at Westfield Heritage Village

When: Sunday March 15, 22 & 29 and March Break days Wednesday March 18 & Thursday March 19, 2020

Where: Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Road, Rockton

Discover one of Canada’s most time-honoured and tasty traditions. Explore historical and modern methods of making of maple syrup from the tree to the table. Families can purchase and enjoy a delicious, reasonably-priced pancake breakfast. Food Truck "Stuffed." Dundas Legion Perogy Dinner

Stuffed Handcrafted Perogies, local food entrepreneurs, will be hosting Monthly Dinners in the Upstairs Dining Room at the Dundas Legion. Councillor Partridge's Community Clean Up

When: Saturday March 28, 2020

Time: 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Where: Waterdown Memorial Park, 200 Hamilton St N, Waterdown

Join Councillor Partridge for her Community Clean Up, starting at Waterdown Memorial Park and branching out into the community to areas such as Mountainview Heights, Mattamy survey, Nisbet neighbourhood, Rockcliffe area etc. With the Waterdown Easter Egg Hunt coming up on April 10, it's imperative that we clean up the park for the little ones. All cleaning supplies such as gloves, bags and garbage collection will be provided. Students are also able to earn volunteer hours by helping out. Groups can help clean up the park or go to other areas of town, and all garbage must be returned to Memorial Park for garbage collection by staff. Save the date and join us for a Community Clean Up!

Annual Waterdown Comedy Fest

When: Saturday March 28, 2020

Where: Waterdown Memorial Hall, 317 Dundas Street East Waterdown

Waterdown Lions are holding their Annual Waterdown Comedy Fest on Saturday March 28 at Waterdown Memorial Hall. There will be 2 shows and 3 wacky comedians. The Early Show 7:00pm to 8:30pm Doors open at 6:30pm, Late Show 9:00pm to 10:30pm Doors open at 8:30pm. Tickets are $20. Note this is a licensed event Minors must be accompanied by an Adult. Please be aware there will be Strong Language. Tickets can be obtained from any Waterdown Lions member or by phone (289) 431-5020. Proceeds to benefit Waterdown Lions local community projects. Waterdown Bunny Breakfast and Memorial Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Join Councillor Partridge for the Waterdown BIA Annual Bunny Breakfast on Saturday April 4 - come for a delicious breakfast of pancakes and treats, as well as a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10:30 am to celebrate the beautiful new landscaping at Waterdown Memorial Hall. Family-oriented activities includes entertainment, crafts, and of course being able to meet the Easter Bunny. Lots of fun and Easter egg giveaways with special treats from BIA businesses for the first 100 guests. 4th Annual Easter Bazaar by Food Truck "Stuffed."

Where: Marian Hall, 79 Freelton Road, Freelton

The 4th Annual Easter Bazaar will be held on Saturday, April 4th from 9 a, to 2 pm at Marian Hall - 79 Freelton Road, in Freelton (beside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church). Over 20 Local Artisans and Vendors with one-of-a-kind merchandise.  Stuffed. Handcrafted Perogies will be hosting the Lunch Cafe, and Pre-Orders for Frozen Prepared Foods are available. 5th Annual Waterdown Easter Egg Hunt

10:10 am - 4-7 year olds
10:15 am - 8-12 year olds

100+ Women Who Care Flamborough-Waterdown Meeting

Please join Councillor Partridge at the next meeting of the Flamborough-Waterdown Chapter of 100 Women Who Care program. This program brings together 100 (or more) women in Flamborough-Waterdown who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. At the meetings, women meet for an hour and jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Everyone each writes a $100 cheque to the selected organization and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation. Do that four times a year and witness how $40,000 can improve the lives of our neighbours. For more information, please click here

Village Theatre Waterdown is pleased to present their Spring Performance "Enchanted April", by Matthew Barber with 10 performances in April / May. When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again, rediscovering themselves in ways that they, and we could never have expected.
