Please join me for the Grand Opening of the Waterdown Farmers' Market on Saturday May 25th, 8am-1pm in the Waterdown Legion parking lot. So pleased to be a part of 100+ Women Who Care Flamborough-Waterdown, where we raised $5,900 at our April meeting in support of the new Habitat for Humanity townhomes under construction on Dennis Avenue. Details on our next meeting, Wednesday June 19, are listed below - please join me as we Build Community Together!

Waterdown Rotary Paper Shredding Fundraiser

When: Saturday May 4, 2019

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Waterdown Memorial Park, 266 Main St N, Waterdown
The Waterdown Rotary is holding a Paper Shredding Fundraiser on Saturday May 4 at Waterdown Memorial Park, in the parking lot - shredding done on site, $8 a Bankers Box. For free pick up, call Jeff Kleven 905 741 4881.

Eagles Nest Spring Tea Fundraiser

When: Saturday May 4, 2019

Time: 11:30 am

Where: Oakville Golf Club, 1154 Sixth Line, Oakville
Bring friends and family for high tea, live jazz and door prizes. A great Mother's Day gift or an afternoon out with your girlfriends! Guests will get an update on Drummond House, as well as hear some stories about how lives are being changed at the HOPE Centre.

Rain Barrel Sale By Grace Anglican Church

Grace Anglican Church is holding a rain barrel sale in a mission to be good stewards of the Waterdown community. This sale benefits Grace Anglican Church Waterdown and will h elp build a pollinator garden and strengthen the biodiversity in Waterdown. Knox Presbyterian Church Saturday Breakfasts

When: Second and Third Saturdays of each month

Time: 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Where: Knox Presbyterian Church, 80 Mill Street North, Waterdown

Knox Presbyterian Church is hosting a freshly cooked breakfast every 2nd and 3rd Saturday of each month, in support of those attending the World Scout Jamboree in July 2019. A variety of breakfast options are available from $4 - $8.

Update For Neighbours of Borers Creek: Clean Up Event

When: Saturday May 11, 2019

Time: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Where: Borers Creek, Waterdown

Borers Creek Clean Up CHANGE: So many families and groups have been out around the creek picking up garbage. Thank you! The creek area is looking good. We have decided to scale back this event. A few of us will still be out there on Saturday morning and you are welcome to join us. We will be starting at the bottom of Don Road off of McDonald Court. Gloves and bags will be provided. Long pants, boots, protective clothing recommended and carpooling/walking to the location is encouraged. Please contact Jane if you have any questions.

Annual Carlisle Festival

When: Saturday May 11, 2019

Time: 4:30 pm

Where: Carlisle Arena, 1496 Centre Road, Carlisle

Everyone is invited to the Carlisle United Church's annual festival on Saturday, May 11th, raising funds for Flamborough Food Bank, Ontario Gleaners, Wesley Centre “Case for Kids” and Carlisle United Church. Chicken BBQ dinner with vegetarian option. Ticket prices $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Kids' chicken dinner $9 in advance, $10 at the door. Tickets available soon. Silent Auction - donations are being accepted, call the church at 689-8630. Kids' Zone with games and Kids’ Silent Auction — this year with Popcorn machine, Snow cone machine and Cotton candy machine. Hot dog stand by the Carlisle Scouting Groups. Flamborough Horticultural Society 80th Anniversary

When: Wednesday May 15, 2019

Time: Social time- 7:00 pm, Meeting- 7:30 pm

Where: St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 715 Centre Road, Waterdown

Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the Flamborough Horticultural Society's (FHS) 80th Anniversary on Wednesday May 15 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Social time starts at 7:00 pm and the meeting will begin at 7:30 pm - Cindy Cartwright will speak to us about 'Hummingbirds in the Garden'. A few copies of a booklet entitled "Our First Fifty Years" will be available for members to browse through as part of the Anniversary celebration. The booklet includes photos and descriptions of Flower Shows, Junior Competitions, Community Plantings, notable speakers and more through the early years. Brief history: FHS was formed in May of 1939 at the inspired suggestion of Reverend C.R. Albright, who was minister of Strabane-Freelton United Church at the time. Weekly BBQ Fundraiser at Turkstra Lumber

Join the community for a weekly summer BBQ fundraiser at Turkstra Lumber in Waterdown for $5 ! For the past five years, Turkstra has sponsored a weekly summer barbecue for Flamborough Connects, which supports programs, events and activities for residents in need - from youth to seniors. This year, Turkstra is spreading the wealth and we are delighted to welcome Eagle's Nest Association of Waterdown to the picnic table. Combining efforts to raise funds for multiple community programs that directly support community success is a great way to engage more participation and increase funding. Springfest Plant and Garage Sale

Victoria Day at Westfield Heritage Village

When: Monday May 20, 2019

Where: Westfield Heritage Village, 1049 Kirkwall Rd, Rockton

Enjoy live music, a children’s craft, learn about Victorian foods and take your photograph with Queen Victoria! $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors (65+) and $6.50 for Youths ages 6-17. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Waterdown Farmers' Market Opening Day

The Waterdown Village Farmers' Market is back on Saturday May 25 in the Waterdown Legion Parking lot. Enjoy a wide variety of farm vendors representing a mix of organic and conventional practices, as well as delicious on-site prepared food and beverage vendors, live music, kids’ activities and free parking. A morning at the Market is sure to be a great experience for all the senses! Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides

Camp Waterdown 2019 - Open House

When: Thursday May 30, 2019

Families are invited to a Camp Waterdown Open House on Thursday, May 30 th - a great opportunity for parents to meet staff, check out the summer programming and learn a little bit more about the programs offered. There will be snacks and fun games with prizes. Camp Waterdown 2019, held at Waterdown District High-school, is a l ocally famous weekly theme summer day camp program for children aged 44 months to 13 years that emphasizes child involvement, physical and outdoor activity, field trips, exceptional learning opportunities and fun themed activities. 17th Annual Drives For Lives Golf Tournament

When: Wednesday June 5, 2019

Where: Century Pines Golf Course, 592 Westover Road, Flamborough

Take a Drive for a Better Life at the 17th Annual Drive For Lives Golf Tournament by Interval House of Hamilton. Proceeds from the tournament will help women with or without children who have experienced abuse or violence. $175 per golfer, includes 18-hole scramble tournament, power cart & driving range, BBQ lunch, Roast Beef Dinner & Dessert, Prizes for top golfers, mystery prize. 2nd Annual RED Friday Celebration

100+ Women Who Care Flamborough/Waterdown Program Meeting

When: Wednesday June 19, 2019

Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

When: Grace Anglican Church Hall, 157 Mill Street North, Waterdown
Please join Councillor Partridge at the next meeting of the Flamborough-Waterdown Chapter of 100 Women Who Care program. The program intends to bring together 100 (or more) women in Flamborough-Waterdown who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. At the meetings, women will meet for an hour and jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Everyone will each write a $100 cheque to the selected organization and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation. Do that four times a year and witness how $40,000 can improve the lives of our neighbours when placed in the hands of deserving grass-roots agencies working to serve the local community. Flamborough Paint Challenge

The Flamborough Paint Challenge is a youth planned and executed event taking place on Wednesday, June 26th from 3-8pm. It features a 5km obstacle course, where participants are covered in bursts of powdered paint, local entertainment, mini games and a Harvey's BBQ. Rotary Food4Kids Brunch Fundraiser

Come and enjoy a tasty brunch, prepared by community members and the volunteers of the Rotary Club of Waterdown in support of Food4Kids Hamilton-Halton and other Rotary projects on Saturday July 13, Saturday August 10, Saturday September 14 and Saturday October 12 inside the Legion. It is running in conjunction with the Waterdown Farmers' Market so come and have your breakfast to support this worthwhile event - cost is by donation.
