Waterdown Hero Shout Out Program
The Waterdown Business Improvement Area (BIA), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Waterdown, want to recognize people in our community who who have gone out of their way to keep the rest of us stay safe, fed, well, learning, entertained, informed, etc. The stories of 20 selected nominees will be shared on social media and each of those individuals will receive two $50 gift certificates to a BIA business of their choice - one to keep for themselves and one to donate to someone who has struggled through the COVID-19. The Rotary Club of Waterdown will match the BIA's contribution to help us provide $2,000 worth of BIA gift certificates to featured heroes and their selected 'pay it forward' recipients. Virtual Flamborough Youth Paint Challenge 2020

The
Flamborough Paint Challenge (FPC) is going virtual this year in an effort to be proactive and stop the spread of Covid-19! “Create The Challenge” allows the community to come up with this year's virtual edition of the Flamborough Paint Challenge, competing for a $500 prize! Between May 4 - 22 youth, by themselves or with a team, can register their idea at the above link and post it on social media with the #FPC2020. The Healthy Youth Network youth-led team will decide on the winning entry and award the winning team the $500 prize. On June 2 the challenge will be launched as the 2020 Virtual Paint Challenge! Flamborough Food Bank
remains open weekly on Wednesdays 1-3pm and 7-8:30pm. Instead of entering the Food Bank for personal shopping, food is being packed into hampers by 2 volunteers who work 6 feet apart. The Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre (FWRC) located in Waterdown is a satellite location of Interval House. Councillor Partridge and staff at FWRC wants all women to know that services are still there for them. In responding to government directives and call to action from the Chief Public Health Officer, we are working hard to protect women and children in crisis to ensure access to their services. launched a Community Outreach Initiative to support our local food banks, seniors and healthcare workers with contact-less pickup and delivery services. They will pick up food bank donations anywhere in Flamborough and deliver them to the local food banks. They will also offer complimentary pickup and delivery services of per-ordered groceries and pharmacy supplies for local seniors and front-line healthcare workers.
